Chapter 1

I layed there, in the center of the cell, staring into the dark shadow in the corner, Thinking, wondering, if I could break out, and run free, but where would I go? I have no home, no family, no friends. I have nothing but myself, and loneliness. There's nothing here for me in Skyrim, or in Tamriel for that matter. I will die alone, and no soul one weep for me, no soul will

Honor my name. What do I do? I'm nothing but a thief.

"Get up!" I heard a loud voice echoing throughout my head, interrupting my thoughts. "You're free to go, you better have learned your lesson, and don't go causing trouble, in solitude again."

"I'm free to go? How long has it been?" I asked, I felt confused. As I have just recently awoken from my sleep.

He didn't answer me, but I guess I didn't really care. I got up and walk up the guard. As soon as I got to him, he turned around and started walking, so out of intuition I followed.

We walk down the corridor and up some stairs. Before we reached the door he handed me some better looking clothes, and a bag.

"Put these fresh clothes on, there's an extra pair of clothes in the bag, and a little bit of coin for some food." He said to me.

I look up at his and gave him a puzzled look, I was confuse. I was given coin for food, after I've been locked up. I thanked him, and started to walk towards the door.

As I turned around he grabbed my arm and said.

"Don't thank me, thank your friend out there." And he let go.

Friend? What friend? What is he talking about? I was so confused on what he had said. I don't know anyone in skyrim, or do I? I just brushed it off and walk out the door. Once I was outside I saw a man, with dark armor and a black hood on, he was staring at me and I instantly thought of 'your friend' and because of that I walked up to him.

"Who are you? How do you know me? Why did you get me out of prison?" I asked in a slightly angered voice.

"Calm down, las." He had a medium tone voice, it sounded calm but also desperate at the same time. "I'll answer your questions as we walk."

I just stared at him, waiting for an answer. In that time we just stared at each other in silence until I finally broke it.

"How do I know I can trust you? I never even met you before." I told him.

He finally gave into my stubbornness and answer my questions.

"My name is Brynjolf, I'm a member of a thief's guild in Riften. Heard of it?"

I gave off a small laugh, And asked "what does this have to with me?"

"I have seen your skills, I've watched you sneak around in the shadows like you are one, I've seen you pick a lock without any trouble and I have also heard you persuade buyers to pay for a higher price. You have skill, las.. No talent, you're natural thief. You're a young man, with great potential, and I think you'll do great in our guild."

'A natural thief' I thought. This is nonsense, but it was a good offer, I can have a place to sleep, a place where I can come and go. Maybe even a place to call home I guess.

I looked straight at him.

"I'll join your guild."

He had a smile on his face once he heard those words.

"Then follow me las, we'll be going home now."

I followed him all the way 'home' and this was is it, the beginning of my destiny, as thief.
