It was faded, kind of like their connection. It almost blended into olive skin. A near unnoticable speck to the untrained eye. But it was three shades too light and slightly raised. There were no blemishes on Olivia's creamy complected skin. Except for that scar.

Elliot squinted at her in the dimly lit cribs. He'd escaped there to get some sleep and to escape his intense new partner, Dani. This wasn't the first time Olivia had appeared suddenly in the night, but he was still shocked. He rubbed the sleep from his eyes and dropped his gaze.

"Hey." Her familiar voice tugged at the tendrils of his heart. He used to hear it everyday, now he almost forgot it. He wiped his nose and stood, shirtless.

"Hi." He grunted, wandering farther away from Olivia at the door. She stepped in, looking younger than she'd ever looked in their partnership. She looked happy. It had been the worse weeks of Elliot's life and Olivia was glowing. Maybe he should stay away from her. "Cragen ask you to check on me?"

She flinched a little but still smiled. "He couldn't pay me to do that if I didn't want to." The banter fell flat around them, Elliot avoiding her eyes. "Just came to say hi, I guess. I figured you would be here." Elliot smiled at the ground.

He looked up at her tentatively but he only saw her scar. Gitano at her throat. Thinking she was dead before hit the ground. He stood suddenly, a towel slung over his shoulder. "Thanks." He answered callously, making his way around her. He thought about how happy she looked. How happy she was to be away from him. She wasn't the only one with a scar.
