"Cery?" Sonea's voice was barely louder than a whisper, Cery stretched out his arms, sitting up, his eyes slowly adjusting to the dim candle light.
"Sonea," He replied softly as he sat on the bed by her. He smiled gently as she let out a yawn. Sonea sat up so she was facing Cery.
"Do you think they'll kill me?" She shivered as she remembered the boy from the square. "No, I don't think so. And even if they wanted to, I wouldn't let them get their manicured hands on you."
The worry in her eyes did not fade, "Promise me Cery, promise me that you'll run away if they find out that you're helping me, pretend you don't me." Cery stared at her in disbelief, "Cery, promise me." He shook his head, "Please," She whimpered as she took one of his grubby hands. "I could never forgive myself if anything happened to you because of all of this, because of me" Cery stared deeply into Sonea's glittering eyes, his stomach knotted as a tear slid down her pale face, the candle light causing it to sparkle.
He reached out and wiped it away with his free hand, "I'm not going to let them catch you, and if they did get you, I'd do everything, and I mean everything and I'd get you back. I promise you." He squeezed her hand as another tear rolled down her slender cheek, Sonea wrapped her arms around him and he held her close,
"I've missed you so much," She whispered in his ear, " I love you Cery" The knot in his stomach tightened,
"I love you Sonea."
