When Matthew left the University Library it was already dark. He knew he would have to walk all the way to his apartment in the dark, but he didn't really care. He liked walking and nobody noticed him enough to mess with him anyways, even though he lived off campus and it was about a thirty minute walk. He knew he probably should have called Alfred to tell him he would be a little late, but he didn't really feel like it. He knew he would be fine.

Before he started to walk, he dug out his MP3 from his bag and turned it on. "Because" by The Beatles started to play. He was an oldies junkie and absolutely adored The Beatles. He started to walk away while humming along.

Matthew passed many buildings and alleyways. When he first moved in, it took him a while to get accustomed to the town; he was from a very small village.

Just as "California Dreaming" by The Mamas and the Papas started to play, he felt a tap on his shoulder. He took one of his earbuds out, paused the music, and looked around his shoulder to find no one there. A little confused he put his earbud back in, pressed play, and began to walk when all of a sudden he smacked right into someone. Startled, he dropped his MP3 and looked up to whom he bumped into.

"I'm so sorry," he said with apologetic eyes.

"Ah, it's quite alright. I should have watched where I was going." The strange man said.

It was a little dark, but Matthew could make out some features of the man standing before him. He had blonde hair, completely pale skin, and stunning green eyes. To Matthew, this man before him was the most beautiful man he'd ever seen.

The beautiful man bent down to pick up Matthew's MP3. "I believe this is yours," he said, handing it back to Matthew. "What's your name?"

"I'm Matthew," he said a little timidly as he held out his hand, a little startled that the man had asked for his name. No one ever had ever asked for his name before.

The man smiled a dashing grin, grabbed his hand and shook it as he said, "Nice to meet you Matthew. My name is Arthur." Matthew noticed something changed in Arthur's eyes as he shook his hand. He couldn't put his finger on it, but something was different. The air seemed to turn colder even though it was early September.

"Well Arthur, it was nice meeting you," Matthew said nervously, "but I need to go now…" he trailed off. The more he looked at Arthur's face, the dizzier he got until he blacked out altogether.

"That was easy," Arthur chuckled.

It was pushing midnight when Alfred started to get worried. There's no way his brother would have stayed at the library for this long. Even if he did stay, he would have called to let Alfred know that he would be out late. Alfred tried to call Matthew multiple times, but to no avail.

Alfred was in the kitchen when he heard the door to the apartment open. He hurried out of the kitchen, only to be disappointed upon seeing his friend instead.

"Hey Francis, have you heard anything from Matthew?"

Francis noticed Alfred looked extremely pale and worried. "No, why? What's wrong?"

"It's too close to midnight and Matthew still isn't back from the library yet," Alfred said as he unlocked his phone. "No, scratch that. It is midnight. I've tried calling him multiple times, but he doesn't answer. I'm really worried, Francis."

Francis thought for a minute and suggested that the two of them take his car and drive around a little bit to see if they could find him. They looked everywhere; checking the library, the route he takes home, even some of his favorite stores. They couldn't find him anywhere.

It was about 1:30 in the morning before they gave up. Alfred was very concerned for his brother's safety and began to have a panic attack. It wasn't until they saw the police station that Alfred calmed down enough to suggest talking to the police.
