A/N- Anyone on DA knows this, but for all the strictly SA fandomers. There is now a real Shane ship that is adorable. Shya. Or Shane X Anya. She was in the last of The Book Of Shane books. I'm not gonna say more incase someone would rather read then be spoiled. I posted this on DA a few days ago but just now got my copy/ paste back (sorta).
But they are great. A honestly beautiful ship XD. Enjoy! I own nothing.
When they finally reached the top of the slope, it was so dark they made a camp fire. It was too dark to travel, much to dark. So they'd meet the rest of the group in the morning. But Anya had a burning question as she set up her sleeping place. Something told her inside not to ask, but another wanted to know. Knowing she'd probably regret it, Anya still decided to ask.
"Drina, she was your sister? What happened to her?" She asked. "What did Yumaris do to her that made you want to kill her, exactly?" Something told her the story she heard early was not the whole one. Or even the real one.
Shane gave her a stony look. Making it clear that it was not the best subject to ask about. When he saw the question was genuine, he sighed and brushed his hair from his face. Sitting down next to her, he tried to think about how to explain Drina's story without loosing what little composure he still had. Once he was comfortable in his place on the ground, he looked up at the stars and begun to tell the story from the beginning.
"In Steriol, there was no Nectar. None at all. When you summoned a spirit animal, you either lived or died. Crazy or not. The horrible thing was, in Steriol, more people bonded then normal. Particularly my family, the royal family. Both my Mother and Father were affected. Most kids dream of summoning an spirit animal, Drina and I prayed that we didn't. But...she did. A spider named Iskos. And got horribly sick in days. When a man named Zerif came with a cure, I thought it would help her..."
"But it turned her into a monster." A tear ran down his face. Anya wanted to tell him to stop, but felt it was to far to stop. So settled with putting a hand on his shoulder in a gesture of comfort. "I took it too, before I could see what it had done. After that, she was never the same. And when we needed the Greencloaks to trust me, they used her a pawn. They...they killed her." Shane closed his eyes harshly at the tears that spilled. Anya held in a gasp. "She tried to fight, but Yumaris held her down. Iskos poisoned her, Gerathon made him, but she killed my sister."
Reacting on impulse more then thought, she let him hug her. Knowing that it was high time he let himself feel the pain, instead of anger. Still, he didn't sob or cry out. Just let the tears run down his face onto her hair while he held her tightly. When he finished, she pulled away and looked at him while he tried to whip his face dry. "That's...horrible Shane. I'm so sorry."
He nodded. Without words telling her it was okay. They locked eye again and she gave him a small smile. Soon, they both laid on the backs looking up at the sky.
"Okay. I told you a story. Now it's your turn." He said. Voice slightly lighter and even a tad playful.
Crossing her arms, she answered in the same playful tone. "Fine. What do you wanna know?"
"How did Yumaris find and hire you to lead me to the temple?" He couldn't help laugh a little when he saw he blush rise in her cheeks.
