How Josef wishes his naked fists were dragon claws instead. Bones bend under the excruciating pain and he bites the blood in his mouth. He acted fast enough to catch the boulder, losing the feeling first in his fingers before finding the strength to push.
Never again will he use these hands to hug his wife or kiss her brow, or travel the snowy fields near Salamand with his daughter in tow. Holding the little fingers so tight, Josef complained he might break her pretty bones someday.
"I can't... hold it... Run!"
