Concerned
"Mister Scar?" Asked a small Xingese girl, "Are you alright?" The man in front of her was tending to a not so small cut on his shoulder, "Yes, Mei. It is just a small wound. Nothing to worry about, you should go back to bed." although he sounded rather unfeeling as he said this, though he would never admit it, the Ishvalan man liked that she was concerned, that she was not frightened of him. He thought this not in a vile, wrong way…. Almost like a… father? No, that wasn't, no. He was Scar, a serial killer, cold and callous… Sure, he thought to himself, there was a time were he was completely the opposite, but that was a long time ago. Before the cursed extermination if his people, now he had felt sometimes like he had forgotten what it was to be happy, to be at peace with one's self and the world. But not with this little girl, she made him feel happy when she was happy, like when she had found her cat thing, and her kindness seemed to be rubbing off onto him too. Yesterday he found himself worrying about the very nation that had once been his enemy, about the young state alchemist that he had once been about to kill, about the weasel of a man, Yoki, and of course Mei…
He was jerked out of his thoughts as he felt a small body leaning onto him. "Mei? I thought you were going back to sle… Oh." She was asleep. How did he not notice that she had fallen asleep next to him? Really? Mei had never went back to the little blanket she had been sleeping on before, she had just plopped herself down next to Scar and slowly found herself falling asleep. He looked down at her, she had fallen asleep leaning on him, but her head had somehow found his lap and was using it as a pillow. Well that did not look like a great position to sleep, so the Ishvalan found himself compelled to take off his coat, gently pick up the girl and wrap her in it. Once he was more or less certain that she would be comfortable, he put her back and felt a sort of calmness wash over him. She really, truly wasn't afraid of him, she maybe even liked him. That made him smile. Maybe all hope wasn't lost for him. Perhaps his seemingly never ending cycle of vengeance and hatred could be broken? Maybe it already was, in a way. And for the first time in a long time, Scar felt that maybe, just maybe he had a sort of family. And he would do anything for Mei, his little girl, as she had done so much already for him.
If anyone had been awake in the early hours the next day, they would have sworn that they had seen the shadow of a kind, gentle and thoughtful looking Ishvalan man looking at Scar's sleeping form with his arm around the Xingese girl named Mei Chang. He chuckled to himself. "Who would have thought it, huh little brother? Guess this makes me an uncle…"
A/N- so... I have no idea what happened here, but I love Parental!ScarMei!
