Korra sat on the edge of the cliff, looking down at the ocean.
She couldn't call herself an Avatar. She can't bend anything except air. She can't go into the Spirit World. How is she supposed to keep balance if she can't even bend? What kind of Avatar is she?
The next Avatar would be born in the Earth Kingdom. She knew that the Order of The White Lotus would search for him and keep him or her sheltered. She got up, and stood closer to the edge. She looked longingly at the water below her. Ice was sticking out of the water beneath her.
Mako saw this in the distance, and began sprinting toward her.
He got closer, and stopped when he was in talking distance. He was breathing heavily.
Korra heard this and asked, "What do you want, Mako?" He had never heard her voice sound so... lifeless.
"Korra, please don't do this. You're a person, you can't just... do this."
She turned around. She looked torn. "I may be a person, but I'm need to serve my people. And I can't do that in this lifetime."
She walked toward him, gingerly touching his cheek. "I'm sorry. I love you, too. But this happened, and it was n't meant to be. Keep the next Avatar safe. I'll be with you. I promise."
Tears were threatening to spill out of his eyes. "NO. Korra, please don't do this!" He pleaded as she walked toward the cliff. He started running toward her. It was too late.
She jumped as soon as he reached her. She had a slight smile on her face, her eyes were closed.
"I'm sorry," she said right before she made impact.
It was eleven years. Eleven years since he's heard her voice, seen her blue eyes, touched her face.
He was travelling the Earth Kingdom under the name of Lee. He heard a young girl say, "Mako?"
He turned around to see a girl, around four feet tall.
He was startled, no one had called him that in years. Bolin was traveling with Asami in the North, and he was here alone.
"Excuse me?"
"Uh... sorry Mister. I thought I knew you"
"It's okay... how did you muster up that name?"
"I don't know... for some reason I had this urge. I feel like I've known you forever," she giggled awkwardly.
In that instant, he felt like he was talking to her.
And for a second, he swore he saw a sparkle in her eye.
A sparkle that brought him back eleven years.
