Heaven Can Wait
Heaven can wait and a band of angels wrapped up in my heart will take me through the lonely night, through the cold of the day
The Doctor sat beside Rose on a small ledge; he gently lowered himself beside where she was lying. He lowered his hand and pressed it against her soft cheek.
And I know, I know heaven can wait. And all the Gods come down here just to sing for me and the melody's gunna make me fly without pain, without fear
He gently stroked her cheek, his fingers passing over the coldness of her skin. He rested his palm where rosy circles normally marked her cheeks. He traced the line of her smile and let a small one pass over his lips.
Give me all of your dreams and let me go along on your way. Give me all of your prayers to sing and I'll turn the night into the skyline of daylight. I got a taste of paradise and I'm never gunna let it slip away.
He picked up each of her hands and pressed them in between his own, he rubbed them gently so a slow warmth spread across her skin. He lifted one of her hands and pressed it against his cheek. He shivered.
I got a taste of paradise, that's all I really need to make me stay. Heaven can wait and all I got is time until the end of time
The Doctor glanced at the blue 1950's police box that stood behind him. He rested her hand on her stomach with her other hand. He ran his finger along a faint scar that covered her forehead.
I won't look back…let the altars shine and I know that I've been released but I don't know to where and nobody's gunna tell me now and I really don't care.
He ran his fingers over her eyelids which were shut; her lips were soft underneath his thumb as he gently stroked her. Her blonde hair lay around her head in a golden halo; he gently entwined his fingers in her hair.
And I got a taste of paradise, that's all I really need to make me stay. Heaven can wait, all I got is time until the end of time. I wont look back, I wont look back…let the altar shine.
He let the golden lock fall from his hand as he clenched his fist. He traced her frown and touched her smile. He felt his face fall down and his own smile disappear into darkness.
Heaven can wait, I won't look back, I won't look back. Heaven can wait.
The Doctor rose and moved away from the coffin
'Heaven can wait' he murmured 'Cos I only just found paradise'. He wasn't ready to let go of her as he saw her sunken face call out from the depths of death. He felt himself tremble as he turned back to the Tardis, but before he could leave there was one final thing he needed to do. Once he kissed her lily white hands, twice he kissed her cheek, three times he kissed her cold corpsey lips, then he fell into her arms asleep.
