Greetings

Summary: How Beck and Jade met.

A young boy was casually walking along the surprisingly empty park, taking in the quiet and tranquillity. He had just moved here from Canada for his fathers work. As much as he loved Canada, he didn't mind living in LA. He wanted to become an actor, you see. It was his passion, his life. His father usually told him that he wanted him to follow in his footsteps and work in the business industry, but pointed out that as long as his son was happy, so was he.

He sat underneath a large Oak tree and pulled out a thick book on acting. He was nearly half way through it and could remember everything the book had gone over so far. He flipped the page when he got to the bottom and started reading the first line of the next page when he was distracted by the desperate screams of a young boy.

Looking up, he scanned the area for the boy. It was only when he stood up and had a better view of the park that he spotted the boy. He was shocked to see that another person (a girl) was pinning him down. He marked and closed his book and quickly ran across the park to confront them.

When he reached them he could see that the girl was holding the boy's head down on an ants nest. Luckily it wasn't red ants and the brown ones that were living in that nest were fleeing in fear. The boy screamed when one ant decided to crawl towards him and climb his head. The poor boy was a snivelling mess.

"Excuse me? What are you doing?" He asked the girl. It was quite obvious what she was doing but he surmised that scolding her and yelling at her for being a bully wasn't the best approach. The girl looked up, her brunette hair falling in her face and covering her right eye. "What does it look like I'm doing, loser?" She growled. The girl gave the crying boy's head one last shove before getting up and dusting off her knees. It seemed she thought the Canadian boy was much more interesting.

"Well, to me, it looked like you were trying to murder that kid," he spoke after a short silence.

"I wasn't trying to kill him. He stole my lunch money last week- this was revenge," she smirked in satisfaction. "Oh," the boy replied when she started walking off towards another brunette girl who looked to be waiting for her by the park gates, "um, my name's Beck, what's yours?" He continued as he trailed after her. His father had told him to try and make more friends. The girl stopped and turned towards Beck, scrutinising him with her eyes. "Jade," she finally spoke, "my name's Jade."

"That's a nice name. I like it," Beck complimented.

"Thanks, loser," she smirked before continuing to walk over to her friend.

"Maybe I'll see you around?" Beck called after her.

"Yeah, maybe," Jade replied and lifted up a hand in a 'goodbye' motion without turning around.
