Chapter 1: The Ryoka

In the graduation hall of the Shinigami Academy…

Only a few dozen of kids had managed to graduate from the Shinigami Academy. Most of them were either pissed or impressed at the mere fact of Sauko Densetsu graduating in one year though. "How the hell did that little punk graduate before me?!" One person said while another, "Damn that's really amazing!" Sauko Densetsu was the number one star of the academy. He was exactly 40 in Shinigami years. He was going to be receiving his Zanpakutou in a few days now and he was extremely ecstatic about it. Not only was he going to be the first to receive a Zanpakutou he would also be the first to be placed in a squad immediately.

With Central 46…

"Sauko Densetsu! Today you will be officially gaining a Zanpakutou of your own. If you succeed you will be placed in Squad Two as lieutenant! Also depending on your Zanpakutou will also determine whether or not you'll be placed in the Stealth Force! Now onto the Soul Cave!" A High Official commanded.

In the cave where all trainees of the Shinigami receive their Zanpakutou…

Sauko Densetsu waited in the cave of Zanpakutou for his Zanpakutou to appear. He was a graduate of the academy after only 1 year surpassing all records. "What a pain in the ass…" He said to himself as he was suddenly dragged into his mindscape. His mindscape was… to say, a nightmare. It consisted of fiery lava surrounding an island which he was standing on. The sky was ashy and his lungs burned. Suddenly a dark black cloud started moving towards him and a long black serpent with pitch black wings appeared.

"My name is Kanaketeo… Do you Shinigami… Believe you can control me?" The Serpent "Kanaketeo" asked.

"I know I can, so obey me Kanaketeo!" Sauko shouted as a sword with a black and red grip, black handle guard with a strange shape, and a black blade (Ichigo's bankai is his swords first stage) appeared in his hand. His mind slowly started dissipating and he came out of his mindscape in front of central 46.

"Kanaketeo… that is a very powerful Zanpakutou. It is made for stealth, flashiness, and concealment all at the same time. Should you be able to control this in the future, you will most likely gain a position as a captain. Good luck with you and your new squad, lieutenant Densetsu." The same High Official commented.

Meanwhile while he was getting suited for clothes…

"Here is your Shihakushō and Lieutenant's badge Lieutenant Densetsu." A girl said walking up to him with the two items. "Thank you very much. Here you go, for your troubles." Sauko said dropping some coins into the girls hands. He went into a changing room and put on his Shihakushō and Lieutenants Badge. He then started his walk to the Squad Two Barracks.

With Central 46, Captain Soi Fon, and Captain Yamamoto…

"We shall tell you now Captain Soi Fon that we strongly recommend this young man into the Stealth force as a high rank. Kanaketeo is a extremely powerful, and stealthy Zanpakutou. Should you choose to listen to us then you will be surprised at his progress he will make." The Official said then dismissed her. "Thank you!" Soi Fon saluted then left silently.

A few hours later at the Squad Two barracks…

Sauko was enjoying himself in squad 2's barracks when his captain, Soi Fon, walked in.

"You don't know yet what your blade is capable of. Central 46 has told me what it can do so I want you to also be in the stealth force as my co-leader." Soi Fon said as she looked at him her face serious.

"I would be honored Captain Soi Fon!" He said standing straight.

"That is all. You'll receive further instructions later." She said using shunpo to make her leave.

Sauko sighed and went into his room. He changed out of his Shihakushō and into a skintight black shirt and pants, over that he put on a black kimono. He also pulled on black gloves. He was not like ordinary Shinigami; he preferred a clothing style of his own. He walked out with Kanaketeo strapped onto his back with a chain. He suddenly noticed a change and spiritual pressure and ran to see the commotion. He saw Sosuke Aizen with a sword impaled in his chest. At that very moment he received a hell butterfly along with all other lieutenants and Captains. He ran to the meeting hall to get informed of what was going on. As he got there Captain Yamamoto Was in the middle of speaking. "As you can tell Captain Aizen is dead, we know not who had done this but for now we are at a level 1 alert (I think that's the lowest level) and all captains and lieutenants are to stand guard at the Seireitei gate until further notice!" Captain Yamamoto commanded. "Yes sir!" They all said using shunpo to get to their posts.

A few days later after a quiet few days of no intrusion…

Most of the Captains and Lieutenants were starting to relax when the sphere protecting the Seireitei was broken. "What the hell!" Sauko shouted as he watched something fall. He then used shunpo to get to the whatever it was that landed. As he got there a he noticed a sphere and a guy was climbing out. "Damn them leaving me here…" Ichigo muttered not noticing Sauko. Sauko then stepped out and looked at Ichigo. "Leave now. Or I'll be forced to kill you." He said trying to intimidate the Ryoka. "No. I have to save Rukia." He said then charged at Sauko. Sauko parried Ichigo's blade with his own. "Damn, you're one tough nut." He said gritting his teeth. He then thrusted forward knocking Ichigo backwards. He then moved forward very quickly going forward as if he was going to slash then side stepped jabbing Ichigo in the ribs and making a deep wound. Ichigo fell to his knees then stood back up and charged once more this time using shunpo at a very slow speed to effectively wound Sauko with a deep gash to the back. Sauko fell forward as Ichigo cut one of his Achilles tendons causing him to not be able to move. Sauko sighed then allowed himself to faint as he watched Ichigo walk away.

A few days later after Ichigo and Byakuya have already fought, Yorouichi having saved him, in the training area where Ichigo is attempting to learn bankai.

"HAAA!" Was all you could hear as Zangetsu and Ichigo had a duel. Ichigo was down to a final choice of 2 swords that looked nearly identical. He took a deep breath and picked the right one and slashed at Zangetsu breaking Zangetsu's blade and winning. Zangetsu then started teaching Ichigo his bankai. "Ichigo you use a charged reishi blast that is very powerful, and it is even more powerful if you know its name. Its name is Getsuga Tenshou and it is my most powerful technique. Before I teach you your bankai, learn how to use Getsuga Tenshou." Zangetsu said disappearing. A few hours later Zangetsu returned. "You have learned to use Getsuga Tenshou properly so I will now teach you bankai. My bankai's phrase is, Tenshou Zangetsu. Learn it, use it, and treat it well. Farewell Ichigo." Zangetsu said disappearing.

In Sauko's mindscape.

"Kanaketeo materialize!" Sauko said attempting to talk to Kanaketeo. Kanaketeo only partially materialized, being too lazy to fully appear. "What is it boy?" He asked. "I want to control your Shikai!" Sauko said and began to concentrate and after a while it started to materialize in his hands. Soon chains appeared on his arms and blades were at the end of them handles In his hands the scythe shapes on the end. (Think Shuhei Hisagis Shikai) And he held them. "Bear your fangs… Kanaketeo." He said his spiritual pressure at the level of a captain.

At a meeting in the Captain's hall with Lieutenants and Captains.

"Ryoka are invading the Soul Society! We must assume they also killed Sosuke Aizen! Defend the Seireitei at all costs! Go now!" Sauko had gone to a meeting and Commander Yamamoto had given everyone this order. Sauko sighed as he looked at His opponent that he used shunpo to get in front of.

"What the hell…" Sauko muttered drawing his Zanpakutou and getting ready to fight.

"Get out of my way I have to save Rukia!" Ichigo shouted charging with his blade drawn and slashing downwards at Sauko. Sauko's eyes widened and he parried Ichigo's blade and used Shunpo to get behind Ichigo, stabbing him through his chest in the process. Ichigo's eyes widened and he stood up once more and looked at Sauko his face determined. "Getsuga… Tenshou!" Ichigo roared as a wave of blue spiritual energy flew out of his blade and Sauko slashed it away.

"You're looking at the lieutenant of Squad Two. You cannot use a petty move like that to defeat me." Sauko said smirking. "Bare your fangs Kanaketeo…" He said with the chains, handle, and blade appearing as Sauko swung the chains at Ichigo effectively landing them before he could dodge. The blades then pulled out and started repeatedly slashing Ichigo.

"H-How?" Ichigo stammered his eyes widening as he fell to his knees covered in blood.

"My blades are unstoppable by someone... as arrogant as you." Sauko said as the chains dangled the blades. The chains, handle, and blades dissolved into black and red flames and Kanaketeo appeared on his back again. "That was only my Shikai. It puts me on the level of a captain, so just wait until I learn my Bankai. By the way, my name is Sauko Densetsu Lieutenant of Squad Two Co-Leader of the Stealth Force. What is yours Ryoka?"

"I-Ichigo… K-k-kuros-saki… substitute… s-soul r-r-reaper..." Ichigo managed to say before blacking out.

"Well fought… Ichigo Kurosaki." Sauko said before using shunpo to take Ichigo to Squad Fours Barracks. He dropped him off asking Unohana Retsu if she could heal him in which she happily obliged. He went back to his room and sat down sighing. Why does he want to save Rukia…, He thought to himself. He then sat waiting for more orders to come.

Meanwhile with Ichigo…

Ichigo was struggling against the bindings that bound him to a bed in a cell. He sighed and sat waiting for the small hope that someone was going to rescue him.

Again with Sauko…

Sauko was waiting for Soi Fon when she walked in. Sauko was pacing and extremely nervous. When she walked in Sauko took a deep breath. "Hello Captain." He said.

"Why did you call me here Sauko?" She asked coldly staring towards him.

"I've captured a Ryoka. He's in cell 56 in the Squad 4 barracks if you'd like to see him." He said as Soi Fon nodded using shunpo to leave. Sauko soon fell into a nap. As he napped he waited for himself to wake up because he had rather important things to do. While he slept, one of the stealth force went into his room and shook him awake. "Sir, Captain Soi Fon lies mortally wounded in squad 4's barracks." He said and Sauko was up in a flash literally shunpoiing to his destination.

"Sauko… where's… my lieutenant?" Soi Fon asked right as Sauko walked in. "Right here Captain." He said kneeling besides her. "Close your eyes and don't move." He nodded as she slipped off his Lieutenant's badge and he felt something on his back and opened his eyes to see her haori on his back. "You'll lead them… well…" She said then breathed her final breath. Sauko stood there shocked as his captains hand fell out of his and at the bed side. "Inform Head-Captain Yamamoto." He said to his bodyguard then immediately headed out to find her killer.
