Gibbs walked into the nursery and looked down at the baby girl lying in the crib. Zara Melanie DiNozzo was staring intently at him with her round green eyes screaming her head off. She was definitely DiNozzo's kid. Though except for her green eyes she favored the Israeli side of the family. Ziva must have looked just like her as a baby. Gibbs had to admit even though he didn't want Tony and Ziva or McGee and Abby to get together he loved their kids and didn't regret a thing. Gibbs gently removed the screaming baby from her crib. After ruling out a dirty diaper he offered her one of the bottles of milk Ziva had left for her. She refused. He tried burping her and nothing happened. He remembered Tony saying something about her having colic. She was about the right age for it.

"Hey Zara. Gibbs whispered. "Yeah I know you're uncomfortable. My daughter Kelly had colic like this when she was about your age. She died over twenty years ago and I still miss her. I mean it still feels fresh. She was beautiful just like you. I wish I had spent more time with her when she was alive. I missed most of her babyhood she was eight months old only two months older then you when I first met her. Then I was gone most of her childhood. She always begged me not to go or to get a different job. Maybe if I had she'd still… but then I'd never have met your mommy and daddy and would never know you."

Gibbs smiled as he rocked the bundle in his arms. She continued to scream her head off. So Gibbs started to sing the lullaby his mom had sung to him the same one he had sung to Kelly when he was around. Finally she started to drift off to sleep. Gibbs yawned and looked down at the sleeping baby one last time.

Tony and Ziva walked through the door of their house. They had finally solved the Donavan case after almost a month. Now they could finally come home and spend four whole days with their baby girl before they had to go back to work on Monday. They walked over to the couch to relieve Gibbs of his babysitting duty. Only to find he wasn't there. They headed down the hall towards Zara's room figuring that Gibbs must be in there. When they reached her room they peaked in the open door and saw something beautiful. Gibbs fast asleep with a peaceful look they had never seen on him before. Holding their baby girl who for the first time in weeks was sleeping soundly. Tony and Ziva looked at each other and smiled before heading off to bed. They knew Gibbs wouldn't mind staying until morning.
