Disclaimer: I do not own Death Note or any of its characters.
A/N: I will never not be sad that L died. I recently rewatched that episode and read that volume of the manga and was bawling for hours, oh my God. It's cruel. L just didn't deserve and his death is basically the ENTIRE reason that I hate Kira-Light. Normal Light is okay, but he pretty much died the second time he got his hands on the notebook, ugh. Glad he died in the end though.
Here's another (very short) story of his final moments.
I might add some more to it at a later date, I haven't decided yet.
"Right there for a minute, I knew you so well."
The very moment that L saw those words 'All data deletion' he knew that this was the end.
The very moment he felt the heart attack coming on, everything fell into place.
Light was Kira.
There was no doubt about it now.
He wasn't wrong.
As the man he suspected dropped to his side, holding him in his arms with that evil smirk plastered onto his face and that cruel glint in his eyes, every one of his suspicions were confirmed.
In those short moments before he fully left, L felt that he knew Light Yagami better than anyone else in the world. Better than his family, better than his friends.
And it would take years before anyone else had enough solid evidence against this man to convict him as Kira and avenge his untimely death.
The last thing L saw before his life was slowly taken from him was that evil smile, a smile that he would never forget, even in death.
The Angel of Death had taken him.
L died knowing the truth of the Kira case after his long struggle. He died knowing that he was right.
Knowing the truth made him confident in his successors and that they would learn the truth as well.
They would bring Kira to justice.
He was sure of it.
