Although they had traveled together over eight years, he could never stop looking at her. Her dazzling smile captivated him, while the slight sway of her body every time she slowly strolled down a path seemed to leave him mesmerized. Spirits, he was so in love with her. Inhaling a deep breath he went over to her, wrapping his arms around her waist.
"The trees are beautiful this year, aren't they?"
The famous trees of Bamboo Valley were in full bloom causing the town to be covered in their pink splendor. A person could not walk without seeing the trees breath taking beauty. It made Aang's reverence toward nature grow with each passing day.
"Yes, they are." He felt a small frown creep onto his face. Katara had always loved nature, but her response lacked the same aw that was normally in her voice. Inwardly, he let out a sigh.
He could not blame her for being unhappy when it was his fault their new married life was interrupted in the first place. His avatar duty had called when the villagers of this town had three different monsters plaguing their village, one of them being a spirit. The message had come at the worst time possible as they had only been married for a week. Two weeks now, if the time spent in the village was counted.
Pulling his wife closer to him, he bent his head down to nuzzle her neck and breathe in her scent. "Why don't leave now and fly away on Appa? The monsters are gone, so my job is done."
She let her head fall back on his shoulder. "Where would we go?"
Good point, where would they go? Both Ember and Kyoshi Island were out of the question. Zuko was about to receive news in a few days that Mai was pregnant with twins. Then Sokka and Suki were going on their third honeymoon to see the tribute festival to Kyoshi. Plus he really didn't want to bother with the Water tribes as they would probably end up living with the Southern tribe anyway. The thought of cold, ice and snow everywhere was not appealing either. With a goofy grin, Aang knew the perfect place to go.
"I say we go to the Earth Kingdom."
Breaking his hold, Katara now faced him with a confused look. "Why would we go there?"
He sent a mental call to Appa before answering her. "Because I know where some natural hot springs are that haven't been discovered yet."
As Appa began to near them, the world faded into nothingness because all the Avatar could focus on was his wife's searing kiss.
