A Blind Following
The ideology of some people today astounds and somewhat scares me. After the events of September 11th, my grade 11 English class erupted into many debates over the issue. The debate over the treatment of the Taliban prisoners was my personal favorite. But rather than getting into the actual subject of the debate, I looked at the greater and ultimately more dangerous issue at hand. The girl who started the debate was actually defending bin Laden and his terrorist cronies. She said she understood his plight. And her reason? Because he's the same race as she is. That's god damned ridiculous. The leader of the KKK, Daniel Carver, is white, Christian, and skinny. I'm white, Christian, and skinny. Doesn't mean I'm gonna defend his ass. I have my own opinions and I'm rather proud of them. And I don't mean to place the blame squarely on this girl, but she served as a great example of blind obedience. When we start caring more about the messenger than the actual message, we lose something vital.
The old saying goes "Don't shoot the messenger". Yeah, well don't hug him either. The same goes for a lot of music today. Just because a singer can convey something nicely does not make them any cooler than you or I. There's a simple ideology here folks : think for yourself. Just because someone who you might have a lot in common with or even someone you love and trust says something, that doesn't make it right. You have to listen to the message and decide whether or not this is something you want to be putting your faith into. And I'm sorry, but steering a plane into the side of a building is not something I want to defend. Nor should anyone else, no matter how much they think they have in common with the bastards who did it.
And the truth is, you don't have much in common with the people who give out these messages. You think the people in Germany were just as charismatic and intelligent as Hitler was? Of course not, or he wouldn't have been able to lead them they way he did. The same goes for anyone trying to get a message across. They're really just the stupid attempting to lead the blind. So open your eyes.
