Too Many Mistakes
"Doug? Doug? Are you there?" Carol questioned when she answered the phone and knew it was her fiancée.
Carol stood there in her living room, still with the phone by her ear. She wondered what happened to the line.
Carol put the phone back, and dialed Doug's cell phone.
"Hello?" Doug answered.
"Hi, it's Carol, what happened?" Carol asked.
"Um… the phone must have went dead or something." Doug replied.
"Ok, but where have you been. I waited up for you all night, but you never came home. Did you get caught at work, or did something happen?" Carol questioned.
"Ah… Um….. Yea, I got caught in the ER and then we had to go into surgery." Doug said.
'Oh, ok, just call next time that happens, k?" Carol said with relief.
"Ok, bye honey." Doug said and hung up.
Carol decided to call the ER to tell them she'd be running late, cause she had to talk to Doug. She also asked if the person Doug operated on was ok, and the nurse told Carol that Doug went home early last night. This worried Carol.
She sat around until Doug walked in the door. His tie was all messed up, and his shirt was wrinkled.
"What happened to you?" Carol questioned.
"Like I said, I was caught at work." Doug replied.
"No, I just called the ER and they said that you went home early last night. Did you go to a bar, or what happened?" Carol questioned in anger.
"Umm…. I can't keep this from you. I was at someone else's house. I met her at the bar I went to. I was drunk. I wouldn't have slept with her if I wasn't drunk!" Doug explained.
"Oh, well that's just awesome." Carol shouted, and left, slamming the door on the way out.
