I thought it was going to be an ordinary day, but damn, was I wrong! First, I learn that all my friends, Lauren, Carly, Hannah, James, Derrick and Tyson have to go to this special camp-where the freaks go to. No, I'm kidding. Apparently, it so happens that all our parents happen to go to this school where we learn about our kind. Of course, I'm totally confused asking so many questions. As I get off the bus, my mom tells me everything.

"Honey, you're not a freak," my mom said as she set the dishes in the dishwasher. "You aren't like everybody. You can do magic. You can do many things other kids your age can't do. I can't believe your finally going to Professional Stones Academy! You're going to love it!" I raised an eyebrow. I was overwhelmed. Why did I have to go to school? Magic? I couldn't do magic! I can't make a quarter come out of Lauren's ear! "I don't want to go to this school, I want to stay here." My mom looked at me disappointed. "But Josie. You have no other choice. You don't pick them, they pick you. You will be staying for the summer and you will choose wheather or not you want to come back. They will explain when you get there. Go pack for the summer. It's in Vermont."

I grabbed my Abercrombie and Fitch tee shirts and shoved them in my big traveling bag. I sighed softly. How weird is it that all my best buds are going to the same place for the same reason? Well, my mom was friends with all their parents because they had met at this school and they introduced us, but still. I found it…strange. As I finished packing, I grabbed my cell phone and called Hannah.

"Oh my god, what Josie? I was doing my mascara!" She snapped on the phone. "Got to go bye!" She hung up like that. I was in bewilderment. Sour puss, I thought. I went downstairs and threw my traveling bag on the kitchen wood flooring. My mom frowned. "Look, sweetie, this is a lot to take in. You will be leaving tomorrow after lunch. Your going to go on the plane, take a train and you'll be there." I sighed deeply. "It's just…it really is a lot to take in and I just had wish you told me before." "I wanted to," my mom muttered looking down at the floor. "I didn't know how to explain. Hun, please don't get pissed at me." I tried to smile but it was hard. I managed to create a crooked smile, give her a hug and plop on the couch.

The next morning I slept in to 9:30. I washed myself squeaky clean and got ready for the plane at 12:40. My mom made me a ham, lettuce and cucumber sandwich. My mom had brought me like an hour early to the airport. I just stood there, looking like an idiot. My face went screensaver until I saw my friend. Hannah!

I balled my fists. "Um, don't you have to tell me something, Hannah?" I asked. Hannah looked at me then flickered her eyes. My eyes widened. Why was she acting like this? "Hannah, you had no right to talk to me like that last night. If I did something to upset you, just tell me like a human, okay?" "Look, little-miss-freaking-goodie, we aren't friends in case you haven't noticed. I have to go my own way in order to succeed my future. That means getting rid of you. You have something I want, and believe me Josie, I will take it from you if it means vaporizing people in the way. Now, if you don't want to be in serious trouble, get over here." She grabbed my arm and pulled me into the bathroom.

She made her hands like claws. With her nails being long, it kind of reminded me of a cat. She circled her hands around me as she murmured something that sounded like a foreign language. Then, there were bright lights from her hands. I suddenly felt a pang of pain. I wanted to scream but I couldn't. All I could see was a black light. Rapidly, someone grabbed Hannah. I looked up but the person was gone.
