Kate nervously fingered the hem of her dress as the car drove her towards Buckingham Palace. She was on her way to meet the Queen and show her the wedding exhibit but the feeling of butterflies never seemed to leave her stomach when it concerned that woman. After all, she was the Queen and Kate just felt like she needed to meet up to the standards that she felt the Queen had. The driver turned around a corner and the palace came into view.
Deep breaths Kate. She told herself as she twirled her engagement ring around her finger. It was a habit she had picked up whenever she got nervous and it always made her think of Will. She smiled, absently looking out the window at the passing buildings as she thought of her husband. Husband. Just thinking the words made her feel all warm inside. She was still happily in wedded bliss and she didn't think the feeling would fade anytime soon.
The car pulled to a stop inside the gates, around the back where the family normally goes in at. Kate sighed and waited for the door to be opened. She stepped out, gracefully of course and stood, straightening her posture. The wind blew her soft curls around her shoulders as she walked towards the door, security around her on both sides. For once there weren't any paparazzi and she tried to enjoy the short, peaceful walk. The small group neared the doors and she walked through, thanking the doorman politely. Alright Kate, you can do this, she though as she neared the spot where she would meet up with Her Majesty and they would tour the exhibit.
30 minutes later
"Oh well, here is the cake." Kate pointed her hand in the direction of the glass exhibit but noticed the Queen was walking in a different direction, slowly making her way in a circle around this part of the tour. Kate let out a soft sigh and went behind her, taking in the different display cases as she walked. She smiled when she saw the different things; each of them bringing back a different memory and most of them involved Will. She twirled her engagement ring again and stopped just to the side of the Queen. She looked up and noticed that they were directly in front of the gown. It did look a bit ghostly, no life in it except the small mannequin holding it up. The veil fell over the soft fabric of the gown and it almost looked like it was floating. Kate braced herself for what the woman beside her would say, expecting another comment about how this wasn't up to par, not what she had expected. She turned and looked, noticing a small smile on the Queen's face. "It looked much better on you dear." With that said, she was serious again and walking onward towards the next thing to see. Kate was beaming, thrilled that she had finally found something that impressed the Queen. As far as she was concerned, her day had been made.
