Lucien's birthday
Jean and Lucien.
It's just before dawn on his birthday and Lucien senses that he is not alone in his bed. He and jean had been "engaged" for 6 months, he rolls over and slowly awakens to see Jeans beautiful face facing him, he sees his silk dressing now hanging on the back of the door. He watches her awaken. She looks up at him sleepily, seeing the surprised look on his face. She reaches up and places her pyjama clad arms around his neck and kisses him passionately. Jean brakes the kiss and says. "Happy Birthday, darling." He looks down at her with a smile that light up his face, this is the first either of them has used a term of endearment instead of a name. As well as the fact they had just woken up together, while still waiting for the divorce to come though.
Later
After a busy morning and early afternoon of surgery and house calls. Jean walk in with a much needed pot of tea, she walks in to Lucien finishing a phone "thank you, see you then." Once she puts the tea tray down and he puts the phone down. He reaches her hand and leads her around his desk. "What are you up to?" jean looks at him with a quizzical but flirtatious look in her eye. "I have some news and I would like to hold you as I tell you." He says with the biggest smile she's ever seen on his face. "So, what's this news?" She up on his lap now with her arms around his neck to steady herself on his lap. "Well, that was the lawyer who is dealing with the divorce." He lifts a hand from where he had them holding her on his lap and places a few stands of hair behind her ears looking deep in her eyes. "The divorce is ready to be finalised from my end. So I would love to take you to Melbourne for a long weekend. Jean looks him "As far as I remember you don't have any patents tomorrow. So we official engaged then." Jean asks with a large smile on her face. "Yes, sweetheart." Lucien answers turning to face her and kisses her passionately.
The next day
Lucien and Jean walkout of the lawyer's office, Lucien looks down at the glints from Jeans new ring. Even though she has had his mother's ring for the whole time they had been waiting for the divorce. This was the first time she had worn it to his knowledge. They walk down the street hand in hand with large smiles on their faces.
That night
They share a bed for the first time since Adelaide. The first night of the rest of their lives, they decided to share a bed for that weekend to celebrate the fact they now could do so. The kiss, cuddle and fall asleep in each other arms.
