"What the heck was that, Xolette?" Hayner asked angrily.
He, Xolette, Pence, Olette, Roxas, Xion, Lea, and Isa were in the Usual Spot. The Struggle Tournament had returned, and Xolette had decided to sign up for it, while her older sister and friends cheered her on. Xolette had easily managed to dominate her opponents in all the rounds, until reaching the Championship match, which pit her against Seifer.
After the match started, Xolette had in mind to attack him normally with her Struggle Bat and collect enough orbs to win. However, Seifer knew that she'd destroy him if he went straight up against her, so he decided to antagonize and taunt her, so he could get her to make a mistake.
But that was a mistake of his own.
Seifer decided to taunt Xolette's relationship with Hayner, even going as far as to reveal how she had "raped" him back when he tried to steal from the Twilight Town Pizzeria. However, the taunting seemed to aggravate Xolette too much, despite the fact that she couldn't feel. Her eyes practically seemed to glow red as Xolette threw her Struggle Bat away, summoned Soul Eater in it's dual form, and proceeded to rip into Seifer so horribly that she managed to cause various deep cuts and bruises. Her anger and attacks were so vicious that she actually cut off one of Seifer's arms, causing blood to splatter everywhere, much to the spectators' shock and horror. The Struggle officials immediately intervened and separated Xolette from Seifer, while the boy was pulled off ring.
Seifer was taken to the Twilight Town Hospital, where doctors were able to attach his arm back onto his body. But as for Xolette, she had to be detained for most of the day. After a short discussion on what to do, Xolette was disqualified for her behavior and the Championship match was declared a tie. Furthermore, she was also banned permanently from any future Struggle matches.
"It was either I let you get embarrassed and ridiculed by Seifer, or I stood up and did something for once. There was no way I was going to just leave you to that." Xolette replied.
Hayner scowled at her.
"What were you thinking? We're not supposed to lose our temper like that in public. And you don't dismembering people!" Hayner said angrily.
"And it's my job to protect my friends! Did you really expect me to just take it laying down? What was I supposed to do?" Xolette asked.
"You were supposed to let it go! You know better than that, Xolette." Hayner said, disappointed.
"Hayner, I would have done the same thing... though on a much less brutal level. You're our best friend. Where would we be without you?" Roxas asked, attempting to calm things down.
Hayner scoffed.
"You're all so selfish!" Hayner snarled.
He looked down at his hands as if the weight of what had happened was settling down on him.
"I'm outta here." Hayner said.
He left the room and headed out of the allyway, not looking back.
"Should... we go after him?" Xion asked, watching as the boy walked off.
Lea shook his head.
"No, let him rest. We all could use it." Lea replied.
That night, as Xolette laid in bed in her bedroom, which she now shared with Olette after her reformation, she couldn't help but think over the events of the day in her mind. Why had Hayner reacted that way? He was always bothered by Seifer and would gladly fight him, so why had he suddenly acted as if what she did to protect him was bad?
Although she couldn't feel remorse, Xolette wondered if maybe that she was pushing her boyfriend too hard, and perhaps had tired out Hayner. She knew that if anything ever happened to him, she would never forgive herself. If anything ever happened to any of them. They were a team, and Xolette felt as if it was her responsibility to keep all her friends safe.
She knew she'd sooner die than let anything happen to any of them.
