Dads Point of View

Today had been the toughest day I have ever experienced. Not only have I lost my wife, my beautiful, my precious little girl, Charity-Rose, has lost her mum and I don't know if she's going to deal very well. The funeral was full of people who loved my wife, but hearing my daughter speak, about how she loved her mum and how her mum made me happy and how mum did all the girly things with her, it's broke me. The worse thing is the coward who kill her, was still out there.

"Sweetie, I'm going to go and get changed" I say and she nods and sits on the sofa, she had the beautiful black dress her mum bought her on and her hair curly. My heart broke at the thought of her feeling like all she can is sit and think, normally we would be making up crimes together and solving them or drawing, playing board games, swimming but no she didn't even want any dinner.

"Ok" she whispered and I go upstairs and go in our little study weve always had and found some jewellery that her mum wanted her to have and I bite back the tears and then go and get changed into track suit bottoms and a more comfortable top and I hear the doorbell

"Sweetheart, can you open that?" I shout down and I hear the door open and some voices and I wipe my face from all the crying I've been doing today and then I go downstairs to see my boss is chatting to Charity about things in general.

"Will it get easier?" I hear Charity ask, her voice crackling.

"It will love, it will" My boss says and she looked down and my boss looked up to see me.

"Kendall, I just wanted to come in and check on you and this lovely young lady" He says and Charity had he blanket around her.

"We're never going to be ok again, she's not coming back" Charity sobs and I walk over and pull her close letting tears out and Charity sobs loudly and I try not to cry.

"It's going to be ok sweetheart, I whisper as I hold her close and rub her back.

"Charity, would you like me to do you what I make my daughter when she's sad?" My boss asked and the young girl clinging onto me and looked up.

"What do you make your daughter when she's sad? I'm not just sad, my mum has died" Charity says and my boss held her hand.

"I make her a nice cheesecake frozen yoghurt with not chocolate, sweets strawberries and cake pieces and it works a treat"He says and Charity wipes her eyes.

"We don't have anything though. I mean to make a frozen yoghurt" Charity says.

"No, but I can go out and get something for you" He says.

"I'd rather do it with Dad if you don't mind" She whispers.

"Of course Charity" He whispers and smiles and she fell asleep and I lay her upstairs on her bed and wrap her up and kiss her forehead and look at her

"I'm going to look after you sweetheart, I'm not going to let anyone hurt you, your my everything" I whisper to her and then I go back downstairs and my boss has made me a drink.

"She's not going to cope well, her and her mum, they had a special bond, I mean I have a special bond with her as I'm her dad but a mother and daughter bond is one of those that will always be special bond and irreplaceable" I say and he pays me on the shoulder.

"We believe we could have a motive for your wife's death, well not a motive, but we believe that for your wife it was wrong place wrong time, we just need to I don't know get more information but no one is willing to give it to us" He sighs and I nod.

"I need to take time off to look after my daughter" I say and he nods.

"Take as much time as you need mate" he says and I nod and we just sit down and just chat.

*later that night*

I woke up to hearing cries and whimpers and thrashing and I immediately get up and go through to daughters room. She had her bedside light on, she was so scared after what happens to her mum and she was clearly having a dream. I sit on her bed.

"Charity, Charity sweetheart" I say gently shaking her and her eyes shoot open and she screams and I hush her,

"Hey hey it's ok, it was only a dream sweetheart, it was only a dream" I say and she gripped hold of my PJ too.

"It was so real, they were in my school" she sobs and I rub her back and pick her up bridal style in my room and I sit with her on my bed and I cuddle her

"I think we're going to talk to school, get you time off, compassionate circumstances" I say and she just held me.

"I don't want people to give me pity looks" She whispers.

"I know, if we can get you in school and but if you feel unwell or not able to cope, I'd come pick you up" I whisper gently and she looks.

"They won't let you do that Dad" she says and I kiss her forehead.

"I think they will, because Charity, your number 1 here, and your not in a good place and you're a smart girl anyway, they should make a exception Charity" I whisper.

"Can I stay with you? Because you look after me" she whispers and I nod and pull her even closer.

"Always Charity, Always" I say. I swear I will protect this girl with everything in me. I will never let her down
