A simple scar
It all started when Beast Boy brought home a starving black cat with vivid green eyes, the same day that the Red X suit was finally recovered. HP/TT Xover
A scar can be a deceptive thing. Of course, there's the obvious – a scar occurs when an injury is healed if the wound was very deep. They come in many shapes and sizes, from a thin white line to a discolored spot to thick, ropy wads of hardened tissue.
But they can hide an infection, a festering bile inside the healing injury.
Or, in the case of a very special boy's lightening shaped scar, it can hide the fragment of a soul of a twisted man.
But what happens after a scar has been healed? Or removed? What happens when the infections is found and purged? When all is said and done, and the scar is completely healed with no lingering side effects, what happens to the owner of said scar?
In the case of the special boy, he left his home behind for a new land, one that promised a fresh start and complete and utter freedom in all things.

Alright, that's the prologue. Kudos to bluminous8, who wrote A Thief at Hogwarts that inspired this little crossover. You should go read it – it's highly entertaining and definitely worth the time it takes to read it.
