Chapter One

The Beginning Part One

Hello Mother and Father,

How are you doing? I am very well and about to complete a small task. Not something hard to throw me out of schedule, but I have to admit that it is kind of suspicious. Do not worry about me, I am taking care of myself, eating healthy and taking plenty of rest between my tasks. Well that is all for now. I will send a message to you as soon as I can.

Alannah stopped typing and looks at her text. She knew this wasn't going to satisfy her overprotective father, but for now it will do. Sighing she presses send and puts her phone in a pocket of her jacket.

Turning her head she looks at the city. It is a beautiful view, sitting on top of her motorcycle paused on the very top of a building. It wasn't the tallest, but she doesn't want to attract attention.

Glancing at the map in front of her, she sees the roads that once existed here. It's silly to look at it, since see has her 'Vision of souls'. However she doesn't want to dependent on it for such small tasks.

"This is it! A small favour to finish and then, Paris!" She announces.

From beneath her Dusk, her horse let out a neigh. It is funny to hear a motorcycle neigh, but nevertheless refreshing.

"It is nice here." She comments, staring over the city.

The Hellsalem's Lot, former known as New York, it's buzzing with all sorts of creatures. It is a normal day for them, they're going on with their daily routines.

Three years ago the veil that separated the different realms gained a tear. The result was, 'earth' and the 'netherworlds' as humans were calling it, got mixed up in this very location. Thankfully they got to it in time and created a bubble, stopping the tear from getting any bigger. Not everyone knew this, but Alannah learned it from her teacher, unintentionally.

"I hope I still have enough energy to leave later. Or we will be stuck here for who knows how long" She says to Dusk. Even though he didn't answer she could read his emotions.

"Yeah I know, I too want to explore!" This is the beginning of a journey and she is ready for it.

"Let us finish this so we can continue" But Dusk doesn't move. They had no idea where their destination is.

"This map did not help, we will ask for directions" Alannah exhales.

She lowers her helmet's visor and turns the bike so it's leaning over the edge of the building. Slowly they start to fall forward and Dusk neighs, starting the bike. Being in a city were magic and madness dwells means that nothing is unusual. So driving a motorcycle down a premises, is kind of normal.

Softly landing on the pavement, she signal Dusk to make a sound for the pedestrians. Once they made a path they drive on the road and soon come to a stop, parking. Alannah gets off and looks around.

"Someone should know. In the meantime, please wait here" She takes a few steps and something white with yellow passes from infront of her.

It was an animal, but it moved very quickly for her to understand what it was. She gazes at the direction it took of and almost crashes with a young man. Dressed in a dark blue and white shirt, with long sleeves and high neck. A pair of orange goggles around his neck and dark blue athletic pants.

"Excuse me" He says and continues towards the creature. "Give it back" He yells.

Alannah stares at him. That boy had something on him that was unique, she could see it. It made him different from the others humans, even though he is one.

Suddenly rockets are sent flying turns his direction. Alannah didn't even think about it and jump to cover him. With him in her arms they went through the air, land on the road tumbling and come to a stop. He was on top of her and thankfully alright.

He started to get up, but a foot lands on his face. A male with white clothes and hair, smoking a cigar and holding what looks like a photograph is looking down at them.

"How do you do stupid newbie?" He says. "The name's Zapp Renfro. You got some balls not showing up at the designated place. And now I found you here trying to rob some chick" He stops, puffing on his cigar. "If you need someone to meet you next time, ask your mommy or daddy to accompany you"

Alannah and the boy look at the male from their pose. Confused and puzzled they remain silent.

"You've got the wro-" The boy starts to say but the expression he received from Zapp makes him pause. "No, I mean..." He tries again but stumbles.

It is a weird situation, an armed robbery is happening a few feet away from them. A monkey, with white and brown fur holding and a yellow camera, is unconscious on the road. The young man is on top of a female motorcyclist and an angry, white dressed male has his foot on the boy's face.

"Pathetic. You sure you're qualified for Libra?" Zapp says with a smirk.

"Libra..." Alannah and the young man mutter at the same time. This is the people she was looking for.

"Did you just say Libra?" She asks. Zapp lowers his foot and they both turn glancing at her confused. The helmet is muffling her voice.

"Ah! Sorry!" Says the boy and hurries off of her. Together they stand up and she takes the helmet off.

"You just said Libra, right!" She asks again.

Zapp and the young man stare at her, speechless. This was normal reaction and she grew quite used to it. She wasn't unattractive, with some even comparing her to a fairy. It might be because they are kind of related.

As they're looking at each other, an explosion sounded from behind them. Zapp is unfazed, while the young man jumps frightened. Alannah took a glance towards the direction she left Dusk.

"I think you're mistaken baby. I didn't say that" Zapp replies, leaning a little forward towards her.

"Yes you did" Says the young man.

Zapp grabs him by his shirt, bringing him close. The look he gives him tells to keep his mouth shut and stay out of this.

"Are you a member by any chance?" Alannah asks.

She didn't buy his lie but understood, that if he's willingly lying about it means something.

"Yes, so?" Zapp replies and glances at her with a piercing glare.

"I have a message to deliver, to the leader of Libra" She explains.

"So, can't you just give it to me?" Zapp asks and extends his hand.

"I was instructed to deliver it in person" She replies calmly.

"What is it, your phone number?" He says sarcastically.

"Actually, I do not know. But the sender said to give it specifically to the leader of Libra" Alannah explains honestly.

Although she didn't understand the reason why she had to. She couldn't stop her self from offering help to those who asked. Especially if it meant that she gets to drive around.

"Fine" Zapp says, looking at her suspicious. The young man next to him glance at him weirdly.

"Before we go, let me relocate my motorcycle to a better place" She says with a smile "Please, wait here for me"

As she quickly steps away and out of sight, Zapp turns the other direction and start to walk away.

"Hey! Aren't we going to wait for her?" Says the boy.

"Didn't your mommy tell you not to trust strangers" Zapp answers and continues walking.

The young man stares at Zapp. He didn't even thanked the lady for saving his life, but he couldn't lose this chance. Grabbing the monkey from the ground he follows after him.

"We might complete this sooner than expected" Alannah says, once approaching and getting on Dusk.

Starting the bike and clicking the helmet strap around her arm, she turns to the spot she had left them.

"Why am I not surprised, they left" She exhales. Dusk neigh angrily at her and spins the front wheel.

"You do not have to scold me. I know not to trust people that I just met" She answers. "I guess there is no other choice"

Alannah closes her eyes and let her powers flow within her. An image starts to appear behind her eyelids. Small lights like stars shine with different colours, on a black outline of the city. Each one represents a soul and on top of it the name which they are born with.

"Zapp Renfro" She mutters "Founded him!"

The name on the soul is showing the location. Little behind him another one with the name Leonardo Watch. They weren't very far, only some blocks away in a narrow road. Sure enough, her suspicions for the boy were correct. He was touched by Riga El Menuhyut. Alannah felt sorry for him, she knew the implications of being obligated to celestial beings.

"I am afraid that you will not fit in those roads, Dusk" She explains to him. "But I will take us as far as we can"

Driving through the thin paths, they are able to caught up with the two males. Slowly coming to a stop, she gets off from the motorcycle.

"Stay here and be careful please. I promise to finish quickly" She says. Dusk bumps into her hip with his wheel. "I know, I will be careful"

Sprinting through the back of apartment buildings she finds the two in front of a brownies, red door.

"Please, wait for me!" She calls. And two males turn towards her with surprise on their faces.

"How-" Zapp tries but is at loss of words. Not many come through here and if the did they get lost before they reach this place.

"Blade Form One, Homuramaru" He says and a sword made of blood appears in his hand.

Once she reached them, with a swift move he points it at her nose. Alannah didn't even flinch while Leonardo, next to Zapp, sweats profusely.

"I don't know how you got your butt here lady. But I would turn around and walk away if I were you" He says, glaring at her.

"I did not lie to you about this message. I promised to deliver it" Alannah answers. "I can show it to you"

She makes a move toward her jacket, but Zapp inches the blade closer. Leonardo looks between the two, unsure on what to do.

"I believe her" He says.

"This doesn't involves you newbie" Zapp answers, without breaking the eye contact he has with Alannah.

"She saved my life. If she wanted to do harm she'll had done it all ready" He tries to reason.

A moment passed and Zapp lowers his sword. The brat was right.

"I'm watching you" He says while turning towards the door. Leonardo exhales and Alannah approaches him.

"Thank you" She says with a smile, while walking towards Zapp. Leo blushes and follows them.

Behind the door a small room with four brown doors, each one opposite of the other. With golden walls and on the floor a libra symbol with red and gold. The sound of gears turning indicated that the room is moving. But Alannah and Leonardo didn't feel anything.

Alannah touches her stomach, slightly uncomfortable. The gold makes her feel uneasy. It wasn't bad, but it still bothers her.

"Are you ok?" Leonardo asks while looking at her expression. Zapp continues to look in front, pretending to not listen.

"Yes I am fine, it is just the colours" She answers.

"What, too bright for you?" Zapp says sarcastically.

"No just the gold. It makes me feel uneasy" Alannah replies with a smile. "Thank you for your concern"

"What- I wasn't- just shut up" He replies flustered.

He just couldn't resist cute girls. Leonardo stares at him and Zapp turns his head, facing the door.

"It's here" He says and turns the golden knob, opening it.

"Michella..." Leonardo whispers.

Alannah from next to him glances at his expression. She wants to comfort him but they have arrived.

The door opens and a breeze comes through. The scent of flowers and plants reaches her nose, making her forget her uneasiness.

"Greetings... So you are our new comrade?" A firm voice says as they ender. "Welcome. I am Klaus Von Reinherz"

Next there's a pause by the person who is speaking. Alannah, with this, let her eyes wonder around the room.

The walls are beige with brown and gold, rectangle designs. While the one they are facing has big windows separate by columns. On the ceiling is a chandelier with electric candles. And on the floor a burgundy red coloured, with a polygon shape, in pastel colours. In front of them are two chairs and a brown office desk, with right and left of it plenty of plants and herbs.

Alannah eyes come to a rest, on the two people near the desk. A male and a female officially dressed.

The female is tall, has short black hair with bangs, brown eyes and white skin. A voluptuous body and black suit with a white shirt. She looking at them with an aloof expression.

Behind the desk a large man stands straight, staring. He looks surprised, perhaps because they didn't expect an extra person. Wearing black pants, a white shirt with a dark red tie, under a black waistcoat with rectangular glasses. Has red hair with bangs that almost cover his eyes and two side beards. But his best feature, is the vibrant, emerald green eyes.

Alannah, feels kind of strange. People look at her with all sorts of expression, but not like the stare this man is giving.

Klaus is starting, he knows it, but couldn't help it. In front of him a nymph has appeared. She is pretty, no that word seems little compared to what she is. She is beautiful, with dark brown hair that stops at her chin. A tall aligned body with curves in the right places and porcelain skin. Dressed in a black leather jacket, a pink shirt and jeans. Holding in her hands a motorcycle helmet. However what's keeps his gaze is her eyes. Those sapphire eyes, they have magnetised him. They seems to glow behind her hair, making him want to tuck them behind her ear just so he can look at them better.

He couldn't understand why he was so taken with her. Klaus had met a lot of different types of women, but never felt like this.

From somewhere, the sound of someone clearing there throat bring him back to the present. Pushing his glasses up his nose, he regains focus.

"This is Chain Sumeragi" Klaus continues. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Johnny Landis"

"Johnny Landis? That can't be" Chain says affirmatively, looking from Klaus to Leo. "After all, he just died"

Leonardo start to sweat. The two approach closer to the centre where they are. He kneels on the floor with his head touching the ground and his hands in front of it, in an apologising position. Alannah, shocked, doesn't know what to do.

"The wrong guy! What an idiot" Chain says, referring to Zapp. Crossing her arms while looking at Leonardo and Alannah.

"Shut up! The boss man didn't realised it either!" Zapp replies frustrated.

"Never mind Mr Klaus. It's your screw up!" She fires back.

"What's that wench, wanna get into it?" He says.

"Drop dead" Chain answers expressionless.

Klaus looks at the picture that Zapp had. Turing it upside down, he can see how the misunderstanding happened.

"And you, you liar!" Zapp yells at Leonardo.

"Wait!" Alannah cuts in, wanting to stop the escalation. "Perhaps there is a reason why he did not say anything. And also, I have a message from Johnny Landis" She continues.

"What?" Chain, Zapp and Leo say at the same time, turning to her surprised. Klaus gaze falls on her.

"It is meant for the leader of Libra" She explains, moving in front of Leonardo.

Opening a pocket of her jacket she pulls out a hand written letter. Extended her hand she shows the name on it.

Klaus reaches out and takes it gently from her hand. He touched her skin and electricity past between them. Alannah blushes and turns her gaze away. They both felt it.

He studies the letter, indeed the sender was Johnny Landis. The writing is the same as some they had exchange in the past. Opening it he reads it silently. His eye widen and move from the letter to Alannah and back on it.

"This doesn't change anything, this brat lied!" Zapp says pushing her aside and putting a foot on the head of bowing boy. Alannah puts her hand on his shoulder and tugs him back.

"You do not need to treat him this way" She says gently.

Leonardo, from where he is, feels bad that he caused all this trouble. But now wasn't the time to lose focus, he came here for a reason.

"I'm sorry! But there's something I want to know. Something I have to find" He explains loudly. "You're all familiar with the netherworld, so I thought that you might know!" Leo says desperately.

But he's interrupted by a TV, hanging from the ceiling, with everyone turning towards it. It switches on to a channel, showing the place the bank robbery happened. The person who was responsible for it, is arrested and taken by the police.

"He is now being led away in a police truck!" Announces the reporter.

"The armed robbery from before" Chain says with her gaze on it. "Looks like they caught him"

In the TV the criminal groans and doubles over in pain. From inside of him a blue gate opens and a two hands, half humanoid being comes through. Starting to cut everything around it with two big swords. The people scream and the camera falls to the ground, cutting off.

Alannah gasps, she knew this creature. But the TV cuts quickly to a loud laughing person.

"Did you see that?" Says the person.

"Him again" Zapp interrupts bored.

"It's me, everyone. The extraordinary masked phantom, who rules Hellsalem's Lot" The person announces and the image switch to close look of his face. "Femt the King of Depravity!"

Femt bumps his head on the camera, attracting attention. Behind him a dinner is present with all sorts of foods and weird shadows move on the wall behind the table.

"How is everybody these days?!" The camera cuts to Femt siting on a chair. "I'm extremely bored" He says from on top of the table with a loudspeaker. "And all of it is your fault!"

Alannah presses her lips together, she knew this soul. It is one of the self proclaimed 'Thirteen Kings'. She didn't like were this was going.

"You pigs just stand around with your mouths open, waiting for food to fall in!" He continues.

"He pisses me off" Zapp interrupts again.

"That's why I've taken upon myself to play a little game! Sorry!" Femt says dramatically.

Alannah with Leonardo see blue sparkles coming from the top of the monkey's head, sitting in front of him. And Alannah realises that a gate was about to open.

"Everyone watch out!" She yells and rushes to Leonardo. Klaus looks toward their direction and his eyes widen.
