'You have been accepted at the university of Manchester.'
I couldn't believe it. After months of threating that my whole existence had been an absolute waste, I'd finally got a place at the best University in the whole of England. Oh my god. Was I dreaming? Well, even if I was it was by far the best dream ever.
I ran down the stairs screaming at the top of my lungs.
"Mum! Mum! I got accepted! I got accepted!"
She threw her arms around me and congratulated me on my success. That hug was enough to give me the strength to leave home and finally be the independent man I'd also aspired to be.
I'd never been this far away from home. It all felt so different. I knew nobody and I didn't even know how to get from my dorm room to the local without getting lost. It was safe to say that after this transition I was terrified.
It was the first day of Uni and, as expected, I was both excited and scared all at the same time. My first lecture was at 9 and I didn't want to be late on my first day so I set my alarm for 7am and dragged myself out of bed and into the shower. Showers were always a good way to wake myself up so I enjoyed every minute I got to spend in there. Quickly I got dressed, putting on a pair of skinnies and a plain black shirt. Soon it was almost 9am and I was ready to leave.
I ran from my dorm room to the lecture hall and quickly sat down, panting for air. I noticed I'd sat down next to a complete stranger and cursed myself for not sitting on an emptier row. The boy had short, spiky, sandy brown hair and blue eyes. I tried to look at him discretely but he noticed and gave me a little smile.
"Hi, I'm Jack Howard."
I smiled back and introduced myself out of politeness.
"I'm Dan Howell. It's nice to meet you."
"It's nice to meet you too."
The first lesson of Law was pretty boring as it was just a 'welcome to the course' kind of lesson but I got talking with Jack and it turned out that he was quite a nice lad and he also invited me to his birthday party, which was in a few weeks time. He said he'd introduce me to a few of his friends.
The lecture finished and Jack said he had to go somewhere so we said goodbye and I headed to my next lecture.
"Is that the time?"
I looked at my watch suddenly, realizing I was about to be late for a lecture and as I was wanted to make a good impression on my professor I couldn't afford to be late so I grabbed my bag and bolted out the door only to find myself run straight into someone. Smack! Our heads collided, causing us to both wince in pain.
"I'm so sorry! Are you alright?"
I asked the dark haired guy, worriedly.
"You know? You should really watch were you're going.."
And before I could even respond he'd gone. Rubbing my head, I hurriedly walked to my lecture. Who was that guy?
So this is my first ever fanfic and I honestly don't know where I'm going with it but I hope you like this and feel free to leave me some comments on what I could do next and how I could improve. Thanks.
