The Last Breath
"I am sure he is fine, Tonks" comforted Ginny but Tonks was already running through the corridors, her mind filled with horrific possibilities of what had happened to her husband.
He must be alright, she thought repeatedly, assuring herself as she ran around at the Grounds, looking for her husband.
Her wand aloft, her head was full of fear for her husband, guilt for leaving her toddler baby and disappointment for herself.
"Stupefy" she yelled at a Death Eater automatically as her eyes searched frantically for Lupin.
She ran up the stairs, blasting some spiders apart and at last saw him at the top of the Astronomy tower, battling a Death Eater.
Below her, she could hear yells from someone as she completely ignored them. She was at the spiral staircase of the tower and she climbed them when she froze.
Someone had immobilized her. She found out that the Death Eater who had been dueling her husband had done that.
Her husband screamed "Not my wife, you bastard!" And shot a spell at him, making the Death Eater crumble to ground.
Tonks was delighted to see her husband. Her heart was pounding against her ribs as she stepped forward slowly. After sometime, she flung her arms around Lupin and kissed him.
They both, hand in hand, descended the stairs, fighting more Death Eaters. They defeated many and saw that no more Death Eaters were left in the room.
They climbed down to the next floor where they saw some more and Tonks was fighting a broad chested Death Eater, her back touching Lupins, who was fighting another.
"Stupefy!" She yelled and the Death Eater was thrown off balance, fainting.
Then many things happened in a second. The room was illuminated with green light, there was a soft "Ah!" from her husband, a chuckle from the Death Eater and shock in Tonks mind.
She turned as her husband, Remus, collapsed onto the ground, her hand gripping his. The Death Eater smirked and Tonks looked at her dead husband through her teary eyes. Blood was pounding in her ears.
She got up and ran behind the Death Eater, who was running now. Shooting spells at Tonks, he looked frightened. Tonks eyes shone with a mad thirst for revenge as she yelled "Avada Kedavra" but that was a mistake she stared at blankly. The green beam, intended at the Death Eater, missed him by inches and Tonks saw her curse hit Colin Creevey squarely in the chest.
"NO!" Tonks yelled in shock as the Death Eater smiled. That did it.
The Death Eater still grinned as he saw another Killing Curse coming at him. Thinking he could dodge it, he jumped like a monkey at the side but there was a blast and his head collided with Grawp's hand as his eyes turned pale. The Death Eater died instantly.
Looking horrified, she ran back to the stairs, her eyes streaming with tears, to be near her husband.
Then she heard a distant shriek and knew what was going to happen, before she reached the stairs. She turned on her heels as she saw a last vision of Bellatrix, something silver, probably armor, and a jet of green light.
The beam hit her forehead as she thought "Here I come, Remus" and Nymphadora Tonks, like her husband beloved, dropped to the ground, pathetically.
