You fought alongside each other during the Second World War

with fear latched inside of your chest

but the willingness to prevail.

You leaped into familiar air

but landed on foreign land.

Fought your way through

Belgium, Holland, and claimed Carentan.

You lost many, and their stories will not go unspoken.

The loss of their lives truly left my heart broken.

The amount of courage every one of you had inside,

continues to burn like the flame of an inspirational light.

You say you are not heroes but, to me, you most definitely are.

My life has been tumbling downhill

leaving me to fight off gloom and scars.

To me, you are stars and your story is the moon; shedding light upon me,

helping me break from the dark cocoon.

This is an Ode To My Heroes

and all that you've done.

Currahee to you all

and may your legacy live on.

Sorry if that was the worst thing you have ever read before; I am not a poet...

Band of Brothers and the overall story of the 506th has really helped me with my current struggles, and I just wanted to write a little thank you poem! :)

Thank you for reading! I hope you have a lovely day!
