Of Detectives and Thieves

If Hakuba Saguru knew better, he wouldn't have come to a gathering of Japan's "greatest" detectives. Other than being forced by his housekeeper to attend, he also let his pride as a detective get to him.

"Didn't know, ya'd come, Hakuba." Lo and behold, in front of him was the high school detective from Osaka, Hattori Heiji, and beside him was the smart and mysterious five year old kid who had a huge luck in finding dead bodies – Edogawa Conan. Apparently, the two had already spotted him and had been talking in hushed tones. From the looks of it, Hattori and Conan (more of the former, though) were planning something for him.

"Nice to see you here, Conan-kun," he ignored the Osakan and ruffled the hair of the five year old kid.

"Nice to see you too, Hakuba nii-chan!" the boy chirped.

"Oi, are ya' ignoring me?"

"Who said I was? hot-blooded-detective-kun?" Hakuba smirked before crossing his arms, angering the detective of the west even more.

"Tch. Whatever," Hattori gritted his teeth, before starting a friendly conversation with him and Conan. "Ne, Hakuba, ya're a fan of Holmes, right?"

"Yes, why?"

"And you're obsessed with Kaitou Kid, right?" Hakuba glared at the Osakan, muttering that it was not an obsession per se. Hattori smirked like a lion who found its prey. He innocently turned to Conan: "Ne, Conan-kun, didn't Sherlock Holmes have a love interest?"He asked, out of the blue.

"Hm? You mean, Irene Adler?" the young boy blinked innocently.

If Hattori's grin could get any wider, it would. "Yep! And wasn't she a thief that he couldn't capture?"

Oh god, where was he getting at? Hakuba could only twitch.

"Yes…"

"Then if Sherlock Holmes' interest was Irene Adler, wouldn't that make Hakuba Saguru's Kaitou Kid?"

If there was anything Hakuba regretted in his life it would be his attendance in the gathering. Now, how was he going to face Kaitou Kid? Let alone, Kuroba Kaito?
