What You Don't Know

"It's a kind of star-crossed 'Romeo and Juliet'-type love story, where these two were desperately in love with each other, but everyone around them doesn't want them to be together," -Aidan Quinn

"No!"

"Shadow."

"No!"

"Please, Lion."

"No, Slytherin!"

"Why?"

"There is no where left for us to run. Not anymore."

A single beam of moonlight illuminated the scene between the two broken lovers. A silence had descended upon the broken souls. The night even denied its usually sweet lullaby. A single thought ran through both of the teenage boys' minds. 'Why? Why does feel so wrong? It was the right thing to do, wasn't it?'

The raven hair teen hung his head; his whole body sagged in grief and hopelessness. The silver-haired adolescent that sat opposite of the other, had his back turned, facing the wall, attempting to hide the silver tears cascading over his porcelain skin from silver eyes. Both were staring off into nothing with dead eyes. Pain and hopeless was the only thing that a pair of molten ruby eyes, and a pair of icy silver eyes, reflected in that dark lit room. This would be their last time together, and it hurt. It hurt them so much to let go of their only happiness; their only sanctuary. This would be their last time before their worlds came crashing down around them.

"Levon…"

"What, Snake?"

"Just let have this one last time then. At least give me one last chance to hold you as if you belong to only me."

The silver-haired youth turned to look over his shoulder at the other. His face was now dry of tears, but his pale stormy eyes still had a glassy sheen to them that warned that there were still many more tears to come. A brief moment of silence passed between the two, but this one was not an isolating one. The two merely stared at each other and understood what the other wanted to say. There was no need for a spoken word.

The white haired boy let the other boy wrap his arms around him and just hold him. He felt so safe. He knew it wasn't going to last though. It really hurt on the inside, like his heart was being shredded to pieces. He wished it didn't. He wished he didn't care. It hurt too much, but it was so hard to let go. This was for the best though. He had his little phoenix, his Daisuke to protect, and Snake had what he always wanted. He had a family. He had his father, the Dark Lord, the great Tom Riddle. Snake had his father, Voldemort. No matter what, both boys knew that they had to choose a side. Each way, they would be considered a traitor to the other. That's why they had to break this off. To make the cut clean, they had to lose what they held dearest to them, each other.

The two boys fell asleep like that, both waking before dawn though. It was time to leave now. No turning back. The next time they met there would be no mercy. There would be blood. There would be death. And then there would be their suicide. There was no turning back, and the both knew it. What a curse a tragedy it is when a Slytherin falls for a Gryffindor and a Gryffindor for a Slytherin.

They couldn't run. They couldn't hide. Both boys, two polar opposites, left without a word. The next they met, would be on the battlefield. Only one would be left standing, hands stained with the blood of his beloved. It would drive him to madness, and he would kill all that remained too close before killing himself for failing the one he loved and cherished the most in the world.

Farewell to two lovers that fate would not allow happiness. Farewell to the two that share Romeo and Juliet's cruel fate. Farewell to the last descendents of Gryffindor and Slytherin.
