5 days before the plane crash

"Emily, are you sure you want to do this?" asked my mum. "I have a bad feeling at you leaving…it doesn't feel right…." she pondered, forgetting what to say.

"Mom I'll be fine! What's the worst that could happen? Getting stuck on a deserted island? You're making to big of a deal out of this!" I said, trying to dispel any bad feelings she had. I really wanted to see my little brother Percival, because ever since father shipped him off to a private school in London I haven't seen him in more than a year. It was hard even talking to him, considering I'm stuck in the states.

She smiled her warm, loving smile. "I guess I'm being a little paranoid…but can you blame me? I mean with all those bombs going off! That place is like a giant mine waiting to be blown up!" she exclaimed, fright coming back into her worried eye.

"Mom, don't worry. I'll call you as soon as I get to the academy! If I have any problems I'll use the emergency tickets to get Percy and I back home right away."

"Well, it you that confident about it…I'll trust you. Just remember that I love you and be safe!" she said in an a sure voice as we pulled up to the airport. She kissed me and told me to mind my manners before I got out of the car with my suitcase in the hand.

This was going to be scary, going to a war ridden country to put a smile on my depressed little brother's face.
