Experience in a time lapse.
The recent kidnappings of chimpanzees, gorillas, and orangutans were nothing more than a desperate human act. An act which they hoped would get the apes to understand that they were more similar than they thought.
The ways of man were considered harsh and vicious to the average ape, so they planned to kidnap young apes and teach them the ways of humanity away from their species, hoping that they would one day go back and show them that they are not that different after all.
In all of their past attempts to raise them human, they never even got them to speak. The subjects turned depressed & unresponsive and often died of starvation, but Belial was different. He was marked as different from the very day they took him.
He was alone when his kidnapper first laid eyes on him. His mother had left him unattended to tend to a distraction the humans had created. Every other ape had cried when the kidnapper first approached them, but not him; not Belial. Instead, he innocently tugged on the man's hair, smiling and giggling as he was taken away. It was only when he heard his mother's cries in the distance that he became uneasy, but even then he didn't try to get away, he simply looked over the man's shoulder, taking what would be his last glance of his home as he cooed a sad song.
