"Ummi! Look," the boy called out. His sister kept quiet, a large bite of bread poking her left cheek out.
Aasia looked up from the clothing she had been mending. "Where did you get bread?" she asked softly.
"A boy from the rooftops!" her son said.
"It was Aladdin," her daughter, Nasra, explained. "We saw him and his monkey in an alley near the market. They were going to eat it, but they gave it to Sahab and me."
"Did you thank them?"
Nasra looked down at Sahab, who dropped his head.
"We meant to," Nasra said. "We are grateful."
