Title: Rewound
Characters: Susan Bones, Hannah Abbott
Author's Note: Back to fanfiction after over a year of hiatus! Let's hope I'm not too rusty.
She woke up entangled in scratchy sheets that used to be white once. Susan closed her eyes again as soon as she opened them. There wasn't much to see. Her hair was duller than ever, her threadbare robes were strewn on the floor somewhere, and an unremarkable stranger was sharing her bed.
Once, in school, they were shown a muggle video cassette. Susan was not terribly interested in Muggle Studies, but that cassette player intrigued her. The moving people could be rewound and forwarded and did the same exact thing over and over again. It was fascinating. Susan loved it, but Hannah hadn't, finding prospect of being forced to do the same thing over and over quite sad.
Hannah, with her fairy tale romance and warm home and sweet disposition.
Hannah, blessed with maternal instincts and soft smiles and a face that begged to be tenderly kissed.
Hannah, who was worth more than a cheap fuck in a dingy hotel next door to the bar.
But everyone isn't entitled a perfect. Everyone can't have a knight in shining armor. That was Susan's mantra every time a stranger's hands touched the small of her back, every time a stranger's lips kissed her neck a little too roughly, every time a stranger fucked her senseless in a cheap hotel after a night of too much whiskey.
Every night wasn't exactly the same, but every morning was. She woke up entangled in scratchy sheets that used to be white once. She closed her eyes as soon as she opened them. Her hair was duller than ever, her threadbare robes strewn somewhere on the floor, and an unremarkable stranger shared her bed.
