Author's Note: For Allie-Wa :D

Joshua Hotz was standing in the flower shop, trying to pick out a flower for his girlfriends birthday. He scoured the vast aisles, examining almost every single type of flower with his gentle brown eyes, but he could not find a flower to even begin to compare to his beloved.

He felt his phone vibrate and picked it up.

"Hello?" he spoke into his phone.

"Josh? Where are you? The party is about to begin and you aren't even here!" Alicia shouted angrily.

"I'm sorry. I'm getting you a present," he told her.

"Well you should have thought of that last week! Just hurry up and get here, I don't want Massie to think that I'm going to my own party dateless!" Alicia commanded.

Josh sighed, his shoulders falling in disappointed of his failure. His life didn't look like it was heading in a good direction.

"Are you insane?" he heard a girls voice say.

Josh turned and spotted a pale girl with dark hair and green eyes. She seemed familiar.

"Are you getting those for someone?" she asked.

"Yeah," Josh replied. "They're for my girlfriend."

The girl chuckled.

"Alicia Rivera, the mega Massie kiss up."

He knew that he should probably defend his girlfriend, but he couldn't think of anything; the girls' statement was true.

"Don't get that for her," she told him.

"Why not?" Josh asked defensively. He thought that they were pretty.

The girl rolled her eyes.

"Look, you seem like a sweet kid, so I'm going to help you out a bit, okay?" she told him, waiting for him to nod. "Alicia doesn't like lilies. They signify death, didn't you know?"

Josh winced.

"Really? I didn't even know what they were," he told her honestly.

"Boys," the girl muttered. "I suggest the traditional red roses. Or a diamond necklace. She's a predictable girl."

Josh nodded.

"Thanks," he told her, putting the lilies back in their place. Only then did he really look at the girl. Only then did he realize how wonderfully her green eyes shone. She treated him so kindly when she hardly even knew him at all. She had a kind soul, and she was very different from a lot of the girls he knew. "I know you."

The girl smiled at him.

"Yeah, you do."

"What's your name?" he asked her.

"That's a secret," she replied.

Josh's phone started to vibrate again and Josh turned to leave.

"Aren't you forgetting your flowers?" she asked him.

He smirked and turned back to face her.

"Oh yeah. Thanks," he said. She smiled at him again and walked out of the shop.

He was cute, the girl thought.

"Hey! Wait up!" Josh shouted from behind her. She turned, watching as he ran to her, one hand behind his back.

"Yeah?" she asked, looking at him with a question in her eyes.

He brought his hand out from behind his back, the white lilies glistening in the sunlight.

"For you," he smiled.

She gave him a questionable look.

"It's just...thanks," he said.

"For what?" she asked.

"For everything," he told her. She nodded and accepted the flowers. She was confused when she saw that Josh didn't have any for her.

"Where's Alicia's?" she asked.

He smiled a brilliant smile.

"Silly Layne. She's not the one for me."

Layne smiled.

Josh saw a happy ending in his future after all.
