I flew with my wings thrust out to the sides. The pink feathers rippled and swayed in the breeze. I loved it. Looking down on the passer byers below, I laughed. They looked like toys, right down to the plastic faces and no spines. But not me, I was free. I thrust my wings down and caught a thermal then drifted higher into the clouds. Below me the city rushed by. Flapping harder I swept over the city with the limits in sight. The trees started to thicken and I looked for a good spot to land. Preferably a clearing I didn't want to get impaled. Finding a clearing I soared down to the ground faster and faster as I tucked my wings in. I could see each detail of each tree in a few seconds. I also saw the hikers I had missed on my halfhearted scan of the woods. They looked up at me eyes wide and scared. I had to face these people. If I didn't who knows what they would send after me. I landed in the clearing waiting for them to run through the brush, hiding my wings the best I could under my shirt. They did seconds later. I noticed they were boys not the teens I had been thinking they were. They looked at me and I opened my mouth. Before I could even get a sentence out they bolted. Chasing after them I yelled, "Come back! I'm not the one you want to hurt!" They never even looked back.

I wanted to fun after them. Tell them whom they should fear but I didn't want to scare them. That would only hurt me more so I stood there with my wings half hidden under my shirt a blank stare in my eyes when they came bursting through the trees for a second time that day. Only this time they weren't alone.
