Auld Land Syne Contest
It was winter break. The young woman sat alone at home, reflecting on the events of this year, when a letter floated down to her. It read:
Hi, Shana!
I guess both of us have been through a lot this year. What better way to end it than to invite your friends to write about how me and my friends usher out 2015 and usher in 2016?

The woman turned the letter over in her fingers and smiled. Then, she walked over to her Luigi amiibo and lightly touched it on the nose. "Yeah. That's a good idea," she said.

RULES
Any genre will do, as long as the story has to do with ringing in the New Year, putting the past behind you, and moving forward.
No word limit, but multi-chaptered works must be cut off at 20 chapters.
Any rating is acceptable.
Don't forget Luigi! Other than that, use any characters you wish!
