Summary: It is the eve of Lucille's funeral and Jeff Tracey thinks about his beloved wife and what she meant to him and wonders how he will go on without her.

A/N: A small story that has kept popping up in my mind for a while and I don't think there is a story on here that tackles his thoughts and emotions on the death of his wife.

Jeff stared at the photograph that he held in his hand, his wife, his beautiful Lucille, on the first ever date they had had together. The two of them had gone to the fair and he had won her a stuffed giraffe, a simple cheap little giraffe but Lucille had loved it and it still had pride of place in their room,no, he thought sadly to himself, his room now. The beautiful angel who had given him five beautiful sons and had made his life whole, was gone, snatched away from them, by a freak accident of nature, an avalanche!

A single tear made its way down his face, a tear he did not even wipe away, he was alone in his study and no-one would see it. The boys were all sleeping, exhausted by the events of the past few weeks, that had snatched their beloved mother from them. He had looked in on the boys before coming to his office, all of them were curled up together in the one bed, in one of their rooms, none of them had wanted to sleep on their own since the disaster, the need to feel that the others were safe had been too strong in the eldest of the boys, his youngest, Alan, the baby of the family was still in the hospital bed that he had been in for the last few weeks, and it would be some time before he would be well enough to come home.

He still did not know how he was going to get through the events of the following day, the funeral for his beloved, he did not even want to think about it but he knew he had to. He had to do her proud and not break down, be strong for the boys and everyone else, but he thought, 'Who will be strong for me?'

Another tear ran down his face as he thought of how he had to now be the mother as well as the father for the legacy she had left him, their sons, her gift to him, or one of the gifts she had given him. He thought back to the birth of each of his boys and the sheer look of wonderment and joy, that had been on his Lucille's face at the sight of each of the tiny bundles of joys as they had been placed in her arms, as well as the look of exhaustion that had been on her face.

Lucille had loved all their boys with a ferocity that could have rivalled a mama bear.

Jeff just hoped that he could continue the love for the boys that she had started, he knew he loved them, after all they were part of Lucille but a part of him feared he would not able to love them the same, in case he lost any of them. He was determined that no more avalanches would take any more of his family and especially not any of his boys. He had sold the land surrounding the destroyed chalet where his world had imploded with Lucille's death, he would never be able to go to that place again, nor take his boys there.

He glanced at the clock and saw how late it was, he sighed knowing he should try and get some sleep, tomorrow was going to be a long enough day as it was, and he knew he would need his sleep. Looking one last time at the photo in his hand, he kissed it gently and placed it back on the desk muttering to himself as he gazed at it sadly.

"I will love you till the end of time."

A/N: That's all folks!
