Before his family (or more specifically, Sam) dragged him outside to watch the meteor shower, Dean could not have imagined watching a star would have had much of an impact on him. But it did. Watching the stars collide with the meteor shower, was the strangest and yet most fascinating thing in the world. Staring open-mouthed at the display before him, he could not imagine anything more perfect.
"So," Sam said, a knowing smile on his face. "Are you happy you came out with us to watch?"
"Not a chance," Dean retorted teasingly.
"Dean," Caleb said, looking over to the side where Dean was standing next to his brother. "You gotta admit this is pretty neat. It's better than the typical hunt."
"Yeah, but I like hunting," Dean replied, a fake pout coming through.
Dodging out of the way when Sam aimed a punch at his shoulder, he reciprocated with one of his own as he came to stand near his guardian. Caleb was enthralled with it, and he was too. Overall, a perfect family moment that was unhindered by anything else.
A little longer than 100 words...eek! This story ties in with my long-running Missing 'verse that basically centers around Sam and Dean losing John to a demon months after he starts hunting. In place of their parents, they forge a new family with Caleb and Jim and Bobby.
