A little one-shot written for Rio Olympics 2016.

Disclaimer: I don't own Kuroko no Basuke. Obviously.

No one knows exactly when it all started. The unnatural increase of the number of patients was detected as early as winter of 2015, but later, it was decided that the major outbreak happened in Autumn of 2016. The number of the reported cases was low as the nature of the ailment indicated extremely rare occurrence. However, the rise in occurrence was incredibly high in percentage: A 250% occurrence increase was reported in 1 year.

The ailment was rarely reported by the patients, and it needed a special trigger to show itself, so it took a while for anyone to notice the outbreak. And when a psychologist did that (in spring of 2017), it took another few months for the researchers to find out a very important connection between the patients: Most of the patients that had developed the condition in 2016 were professional basketball players.

This little tidbit of information didn't make any sense. Everyone knew that this had to be the main clue to what was happening, but it still did NOT make any sense! The word of psychology was in uproar and no one could even properly question the patients as they had panic attacks or went into catatonic states when questioned. It was believed that other people attached to the teams (coaches, trainers, etc.) probably knew the reason behind the outbreak of this particular condition, but even they could not talk about the situation. They flinched and paled as if remembering the most horrifying experiences.

Several doctors went through every detail of the patients' lives in 2016, focusing specially on Rio Olympics. Did something horrible happen during a game? Was there an attack? An explosion? A horrible accident? A gruesome death? Did something happen in the patient's residence area? But nothing was found. And even if something had happened in the Olympics, it still couldn't have explained the other cases that were basketball players who did not compete in the Olympics.

As of today, December 20th of 2017, no one has a conclusive answer for the questions that has had the psychology community in uproar since earlier this year: How did such a significant number of basketball players develop Iridophobia almost simultaneously?

AN: If anyone wants to write a full story with this concept, it'll make me really happy. :D

A few explanations:

- Iridophobia means fear of rainbows. - Japan had a basketball Olympic team and the miracles played in it. As a result, all players who went against them either in Olympics or in the games leading to Olympics were traumatized. Poor souls.
