Merlin doesn't belong to me.
Back and Forth
Arthur fidgeted in his chair, took his eyes off the couple circling the dance floor, and turned to smile at Morgana and his father who were looking at him rather strangely.
"Is there a problem?" Morgana asked him a little while later.
"No," Arthur replied attempting to smile and failing miserably.
"Maybe you could dance," Morgana suggested.
Arthur didn't reply. He couldn't dance not when the only person he wanted to dance with was out there dancing with somebody else. He pretended not be watching Guinevere and Lancelot dancing and failing that he got to his feet. He had no idea what he was going to do now that he was on his feet but he couldn't just sit down again.
"What are you doing?" Merlin met his friend halfway across the room and they made their way towards the food table.
"Getting more food," Arthur replied. "What does it look like to you?"
"So you weren't thinking of having Lancelot thrown into the dungeons then, or maybe having him spend some hours in the stocks?"
"Of course not," Arthur lied. "I couldn't care less who Guinevere dances with."
"Right."
"Then I guess you won't care if I tell you that Gwen and Lancelot are heading towards the door," Merlin replied.

Gwen was tired she had danced four times with Lancelot all the while hoping that Arthur would ask her to dance but he hadn't. He had just sat there watching her dance. The arrogant prat. If she didn't love him so much she would have screamed at him. He was so clueless sometimes.
"I need some air," she told Lancelot and they made their way out of the room.

"Where did they go?"
"Who?"
"You know who," Arthur replied.
Merlin hid a smile and replied. "I'm not sure but I could find out."
Arthur began to nod and then changed his mind. "On the other hand I don't think I want to know, forget it."
"Okay," Merlin didn't attempt to hide his smile this time. "Will that be all?"
"Yes, Merlin," Arthur said. "Good night."
