Author's note: If there's anyone who watches Stargate, they'll pick up on the plot for this. And this story will become clearer in time.
The wind ripped at Arthur's clothes and sent his hair flying wildly around his face. The rain lashed down like small arrows, desperate to penetrate the young man's skin.
Arthur's arms were raised to protect his eyes from the wind and rain, but even still he squinted. He could barely see what was in front of him, but still he moved forwards. He knew he was on a high tower on one of the battlements, but he wasn't sure why.
A figure appeared in Arthur's vision, not moving. As he drew closer, Arthur saw that this figure was staring out to the horizon. He noticed the tatty brown jacket, red scarf, and raven-black hair, and instantly recognised the figure.
"Merlin!" he yelled over the howling of the wind and the thundering of the rain.
Merlin turned around to face Arthur; his clothes were completely dry in the middle of the storm. His hair was unruffled by the wind. As he looked at the prince, he smiled.
"Turn around Arthur…" Merlin said, except Arthur noticed that Merlin hadn't moved his lips.
However, he did as he was instructed. Turning round, he saw a mirror floating in front of him. It wasn't bobbing or anything, it was like the thing was hanging on an invisible wall, with a large crack down the middle, splitting the image in two. In one half, the prince's reflection was still in the mirror, the other showed the prince soaked to the skin, the wind and rain howling behind him.
"Can you tell which reflection is true?" Merlin asked.
"The left image," Arthur replied instantly, pointing to the soaked prince.
He immediately recoiled his hand, as the reflection made no move to copy his actions.
"Is it?" Merlin asked.
Arthur turned to frown at his manservant, but slipped on the wet stones. He could feel himself falling, his stomach had left him as he made to fall to the ground. As he did, it seemed that Merlin remain in his view, rising up into the sky to keep himself in Arthur's sight.
Then the world went black.
