The Propsal
Castle had known for a long time that Kate Beckett was the one. He had gotten a her a ring tha night after their first date. It had started out with him just going into Tiffany's to look. Then he saw it, it was a simple band with a small diamond. When he saw it for the first time he pictured it on her finger. He had bought it knowing it would be a while before he would need it. It had been two years since that day. Beckett had been living with him for almost a year. He knew she was ready. Tonight they were going to The Haunt, not only his tavern but one of their favorite places.
They arrived around 8:45 on Saturday. They sat down in the booth they had come to call their own. About nine o'clock he signled to his man in charge of the music. Their song started, Pianoman.
It's nine o'clock on a Saturday,
The regular crowd shuffles in,
There's an old man sitting next to me,
Making love to his tonic and gin,
He says son can you play me a memory,
I'm not really sure how it goes,
but it's sad and its sweet and I knew it complete,
when I wore a younger man's clothes.
They sang along with the rest and when it was done Castle said, "I will never forget that night."
"Neither will I." She said
"You know another date I don't want to forget?"
"When?" She asked
"Tonight." he said
"Why?"
"Because tonight, I want to to do this." Castle go down on one knee. "Kate Beckett I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?"
"Yes." she said trying to hold back her tears as Castle put the ring on her finger
Then he pulled her into a hug and kissed her. He knew this time he had it right.
