Downtime
When you're a detective you have to have some form of release after a tough day. It's tough to deal with the dregs of society then go home and act like nothing happened. We all need an escape.
Mike is a tough nut to crack. He's a mans man. He never lets anyone in. I've seen him drunk on many occasions. I know his routine. At the bar by 7:30, in his bed with a warm body by 11:00. It's actually really sad. He's a nice guy although he's rough around the edges. He really needs to settle down and find himself a good woman.
Captain Deakins is a great leader but putting up with all of us takes the patience of a saint. He deserves a break in the evenings. He loves going home to Angie and the girls, laughing around the dinner table together or enjoying the game on TV.
Carolyn is an enigma. She's so intelligent and introspective. You would never guess she enjoys clubbing until the sun comes up. I went with her once. It was a very strange experience watching her dance and sweat to the techno like a college kid. But if she can take her frustrations out on the dance floor all the power to her.
Bobby is a different story. He never rests. He never can forget a case. It's so sad sometimes to see his brain at a constant motion. I myself get dizzy at times. But lately he's different. He takes time to smell the roses. He sits down and enjoys a meal. He's even been sleeping!
Now I've always been a fan of downtime. I enjoy my days and nights off. I like the internet, hanging out, having a beer or getting a manicure. Recently though my free time has been filled with somebody that helps me relax. I smell the roses with him, we enjoy a meal, and we sleep…sometimes.
We all have different ways of dealing with the questions that arise during the day. We all have different ways to unwind at night. Personally I think my way is the best.
I love quitting time with Bobby.
