Pain is better shared

She needed to leave. She was going to break down. She was freaking out.
It was too much. The fear in the women's eyes when she begged Kate not to send her outside. The sounds of everybody running around.
She felt like it all happened all again. She could feel the pain increase in her chest and the air pressing out of her lungs.

"Kate! Kate!"
Seeing Kate break through the doors he decided to follow her.
After pushing the doors open he had to choose between going into a hallway to his right or going into the one on his left.
He stopped on his tracks and listened.
He registered heavy breathing and silent weeping coming from the hallway to his right hand, so he decided to enter it.
She was crying hard, sitting on the ground leaned against a wall and her arms were around her legs. Her head was between her knees with her jacket, gun and badge thrown to the side.
He sat down next to her, looked at her and carefully put a strand of her hair behind her ear. When she started crying even harder, he moved closer and put an arm around her shoulder.

Felling him touching her so softly she couldn't hold back anymore. Even though she was so very scared, his touch made her feel home and save. When she felt his arm around her, she slightly turned and put her arm around his neck.
It comforted her, but it wasn't enough.
She moved a bit more so she could straddle him. She put her legs around his waist and leeched on to his hands softly strokeher back, she buried her nose into his neck. His smell relaxed her so much she slowly stopped crying.
Even after the tears stopped rolling down her face, they stayed in this position.
"I'm sorry." She said so silentlythat if it wasn't dead silent in the hallway, he wouldn't have hears it. "Don't be. Not for being human, Katie."
He never called her Katie. If it wouldn't make her feel batter she would have been pissed at him for calling her by that name.
When her breathing was close to normal again and her arms and legs let go of him a little bit, he asked if she was ready to go out there again.
She answered with a nod, so he carefully moved her off him and stood up. After helping her stand up, he bend down to pick her jacket, badge and gun up and put them into her hands.
Having put them on, she looked him in the eyes and said "Thanks. Really. I couldn't have done it without you."
He softly smiled and guided her towards the exit. Before opening the doors for them to step out, he turned around again, gave her a loving look and said "Always."
