In the dark of the living room, Connie sat barefoot on the floor, with her laptop resting on her lap. The light of the screen exposing her face in the otherwise dark atmosphere of the house. Her long eyelashes fluttered as she blinked. She wore a dress much like the one she wore when she first met Steven, bow and everything. Her dress was not good at hiding her baby bump. She and Steven were expecting their second child in a few days.

On her laptop, she was writing an email, titled "Application for Doctor's Job". She was hoping to get a job as a doctor at the local hospital where her mother worked. Words were scattered around her head, trying to grab the necessary ones for the next sentence.

Then, the door leading to the garage opened, and out came Steven, who had just finished his work out. He wore only red shorts. His Gem was visible between a six pack. He stood barefoot at the doorway, stretching. He noticed the light coming from the living room, and saw Connie there. He smiled, thinking of sneaking behind her. He tiptoed over towards her, trying not to make a sound. He slowly went on his knees and put his hands around her waist.

Connie felt Steven's hands and tried to hold in her laughter. She blushed, and tried to hold her smile in. She tried to ignore him, still typing. Steven put his fingers to the keyboard. Connie pulled her hands back. He started typing. She had stopped at "I aim to become a doctor because it is something I am passionate about. To save lives, and to help people." and Steven continued from there.

"If I become a doctor, I will make my husband proud. Because he cares about me a lot, and wants to see me succeed in life. He knows that if I become a doctor, I can provide for my family. For our future baby, and the one we already have. We both know it's hard to get ahead in this world. But he's seen me put my college education and my medical school practices to the test, and he knows I can become a great doctor. That I can make a difference. That I can be the best I can be. And that's one of the many reasons why he loves. It's worth it to hear him say 'I love you.' ."

He stopped there.

"There." he said, "That about does it."

Connie giggled.

"Oh, Steven. I don't know if I can send this."

"What do you mean? It's all true. I love you a whole lot. I want to see you succeed."

He put his hand to her chin and came in closer.

"It makes me happy to see you succeed."

He puckered his lips, and they met with hers. They both closed their eyes. After a few seconds, they parted, and Connie stared at him. Then, she laughed softly. Steven held her tight in a hug. His large muscular arms tightly wrapping around her. She was laughing madly now, overcome with joy. He put his lips to her neck, and she blushed red, but the laughing never stopped. He kept kissing her neck, a smile on his face the entire time. He caressed her long, soft hair. Their bodies leaned to the floor, Steven laying next to her, still kissing her neck.

He put his right hand to her baby bump. He could sense the baby's presence inside its mother's womb. It was peacefully resting inside her. He could feel and hear its breathing. It breathed like Turquoise would, fast asleep in his arms.

He opened his eyes and stared at Connie, who smiled at him. She rubbed the back of his head, the curls on the back gently flowing between her fingers.

"I love you." she said in a soft voice.

He smiled at the love of his life. His Jam Bud. His best friend.

"I love you too."

She turned to the laptop, slowly moved her finger across the pad, the cursor moving towards "Send". She clicked, and the email compressed into an envelope and sped towards the Send button. She looked back to him and put her other hand behind his head and locked her fingers together. She pulled Steven closer to her and kissed him. They closed their eyes. This one was long. Long enough for them to show how much they loved the other…

The End...
