I really hope you like this, I was just listning to 'closer' by Joshua Radin (which I don't own by the way) and this idea just poped into my head, so I wrote it down. Please let me know what you thought! Please?!?
Gun fire rings in my ears as I try to write this letter to you my love. My body aches from the weeks of torturously living in the trenches. I wish I could be with you right now, the one I love. Just to feel your soft skin against mine once more would bring me more pleasure than I have reason to hope for. But for now, the only way to be with you my love is through the written word.
So we're alone again

Only get closer to the point where I can take no more

He died in my arms. My best friend, he died. This war is tarring me apart. I don't know how much more I can take. Thinking of your face my love, of your beautiful voice is the only thing that comforts me. I would give up if it weren't for the though of being with you once more.

Last week I was caught in a mine field. I escaped, but only to watch my men die; to watch their blood turn the mud a rusty red. Their screams still haunt my dreams. The royal blue uniform I once wore with pride is now tainted and stained with memories of death and despair.

Yet through the images of blood and desolation that are forever burned in my mind, your face shines through. And with your face in my mind, I feel hope. Perhaps it is selfish of me to think such thoughts through the pain that I am surrounded by, but all I want is to hold you in my arms. I promise you my beloved, I will be with you once more.
