The Tea Adventure
-------
Draco sighed for the fiftieth time. Who knew making tea could be so difficult, he thought sourly. Having had House Elves work for him all his life, the blond hadn't learned more than adding sugar to tea, and that too only when he was at work. All other times, he avoided working in the kitchen as much as he could. Unfortunately for him, however, his redheaded girlfriend had decided that she would like to have a cup of tea made by him.
He had, as expected by her, refused to such a horrifying request but then she had challenged him into doing it, and now here he was, doing the unthinkable. He had contemplated showing her The Rulebook for Malfoys, where rule #351 stated that Malfoys did not enter the Kitchenette and dirty their manicured, clean hands, but she would have just laughed at the rulebook.
Casting a glance at the boiling milk, he thought of what next was to be done. Picking up two cups from the counter, he poured the milk into them till they were half full. Then, he added a little water to it. Smiling smugly to himself, he thought that he had finished half of the job, already. Turning around, he looked for sugar. He spotted two jars with white powder in them, and after a round of 'Inky Pinky Ponky, Merlin had a donkey', he chose the left one. Too busy mentally praising himself at doing well, he missed the label that said 'Salt' and added two spoons of it to each cup.
Now, the teabags, he thought to himself, and set about looking for tea. After opening several cabinets, when he could not find the blasted things, he summoned Rooky, the elf.
"Master wishes me?" The Elf asked, the frown of his master's face making him apprehensive.
"Where are the tea bags? Why can't everything be kept in such a manner that it is handy?" Draco asked, annoyance lacing his words.
"The tea bags are on the counter, Master," Rooky replied, pointing to a bag quietly sitting at the corner of the counter.
"Oh, well, next time make sure to keep it in the centre of the counter. And you may go now."
Rooky just nodded meekly, and vanished with a pop.
The young Malfoy berated himself for not having looked more attentively, and reached for the tea bags, putting one in each cup. Dipping them in till the tea became nicely strong, he pulled out the tea bags and flung them in the dustbin.
She'll see that I'm just as good at making tea as I am in bed, he thought smugly. She'll soon want more.
Arranging the two cups on a tray, he took the tea out to the parlour. Placing the tray on the table, he bowed low. "Your tea, ma'am."
Ginny giggled at his theatrics, and decided to play along. "You may have a seat."
Draco sat down on the black couch, and motioned for her to take her cup of tea. "Go on. It's the best tea you're ever going to have."
Ginny just smiled knowingly at him, and reached forward for her cup. A sip later, her knowing smile had turned into a full blown grin.
"Well, isn't it good?"
The redhead laughed. "Why don't you try it yourself?"
The blond smirked at her, and picked up his cup, raising it for a toast. "To the best tea-maker in the world."
Ginny watched him with amusement as he took a sip of the tea, and promptly sprayed it all out. She laughed at his sour face, and patted him on his arm.
"You have a lot to learn, love," she said, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
Her boyfriend just groaned in response.
