"Goodbye Doctor."

"Oh, it's not goodbye."

"No, say it please. This time. Say it."

"Goodbye, my Sarah Jane!"

When you travel with someone like the Doctor, it's never going to be easy when it stops. I suppose the best thing to do, and the only thing, is to carry on with your life. Find something to do. Something with a purpose, something he'd be proud of. You soon find that nobody matches up to him. You realise you'll probably be alone for the rest of your life, but its ok. The time you had with him, you'll never forget all that. It's your sustenance through the darker days. It's what keeps you believing. Perhaps one day he might come back. Oh you'll both have changed. You'll be older, a little wiser perhaps. He'll have seen things you can barely imagine. The old spark will be there. Rekindled. Reborn. When you travel with someone like the Doctor, you know it cannot last forever but you live with the hope that one day, one lucky happy day, you might be able to relive it all once more.

So when you say goodbye to the Doctor, remember it is not "farewell", it is actually "until the next time".
