Star Wars: Echoes of the Past

Prologue
"Mommy, please don't leave me!" Maya sobbed into her mother's blood-soaked tunic. She was just minding her own business when a shot pierced her chest. Now she's dying and there's nothing Maya could do to help her. If only her father were here, he would know what to do. Maya knew there was no hope though. He had left a few years ago, right after she was born.
"Honey, I'm sorry. I can't stay any longer. Just, please, remember, I'll always love you…" And with that, she went limp in Maya's small arms.
"Mommy, please. Come back." She said. After a few more minutes of crying, she felt a flash of recognition. There was a man in armor standing off in the distance, and he seemed familiar.
"M- Maya?" He wearily asked.
"Who are you and why did you kill her?! She never did anything wrong!" Maya shouted angrily. He took off his helmet and everything clicked. This was her father, who had left her and her mother years ago. He had become nothing but a lowly killer. "Why?"
"I had no idea…" He said, a glint of regret in his eyes, but it was gone in seconds. He ran from the scene, back to his ship.
Maya was not sure how long she just sat there, next to her mother's lifeless body, crying. It felt like years. Later she heard sirens coming closer. The authorities had finally found out that her mother had been murdered. She didn't move when they finally arrived and took her body away, and, only when a pair of strong arms picked her up, did Maya finally say anything.
"Who are you?" She asked tentatively.
"Shh. You're in safe hands now. We're going to take you back to the Temple." They said.
"We're? Who else is here?" She was confused. Maya looked up to see a man with brownish hair and a matching beard. He set her down in a speeder after the short walk and they set off towards wherever this man was taking her.
