"Telling him she loved him just because she needed him relishes the selfishness of her words,
but when you tell him you need him because you love him; undermines the true nature of an imprint."

Prologue.

My broken nails nudged the white bark behind where I stood, the blisters on my fingertips stung painfully so as I pushed myself as far into the pillar as scientifically possible. Slick snow plastered my shoulders and dampened the ends of my hair, I felt the ends flick up into a curl whilst the tiny baby hairs on the back of my neck stood up in fear.

"You smell of wet dog," She whispered against the hollow of my throat. "But you are not one."

Unable to comprehend the raw fear radiating inside my veins, I let out a shaking breath and felt the red head inhale against my neck. The dark crimson of her lips pressed against the skin for a moment before she dragged her nails from my collarbone and tilted my head upwards; spitting away from me but dangerously close to my feet.

Hissing, she broadened her shoulders and pushed a nail into the skin just below my jaw line. "What are you?"

I began to panic internally, feeling my chest rise and fall faster and faster as she stepped back for a moment. Lowering my head from the painful angle she held it at before, my eyes lost the blurry glisten I dealt with but the burn of red from Victoria's pupils made me feel sick.

Cocking her head to the side slightly, her curls bounced rightwards; deadly stunning against her porcelain skin. "Ah," Her voice quaint as her white teeth flashed into a grin. "Such a cross-breed has never been seen before." Victoria clicked her tongue loudly and leaned back onto the heel of her leather boot, grinding it into the dirtied snow for a moment before arching her back and crouching slightly. Baring her teeth and snapping her fingers open like she was about to rip open my body, she bought her tongue across her lower lip and pursed her lips. "An army relished in fire and moonlight."
