Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto or the characters within. But you probably already knew that.

Sun and Moon

He was her sun...

From the moment it rises above the horizon, its presence is known to all. It would start off from the depth of twilight and slowly rise to the height of the sky, radiating with a brilliance and warmth that could neither be ignored, nor denied. And by this, all life thrived and the day was born anew. It didn't matter if there were clouds or shade; its light would always shine.

Just like him.

Always bright; that was what she would remember about him. Bright eyes, bright clothes, bright smile. Even in those times when all would look upon him with contempt, he would not let himself be denied his dreams. His dream. To be Hokage. To be recognized and seen -truly seen- by everyone.

Just like she saw him.

She would always remember how his words encouraged her; how his actions, although clumsy and silly at times, inspired her. Despite being put down by her own, his example gave her the courage to stand up and continue on, to become stronger and one day perhaps, to achieve her own dream. And when the time came for her to stand up and show what all of that meant to her, she did it. Against a foe she had no chance against, she bravely stood her ground, protecting the one thing she believed with all her heart was more precious than her own life. And she did it for one simple reason.

"Because...I love you."

But it was more than that. She knew the kind he was. She knew the kind of person he would become. Already many were beginning to see the bright hope for the future that Naruto Uzumaki would become. He would achieve his dream, and so much more. She knew this much about him, just as sure that she knew that she loved him.

He was the sun...

She was the moon...

You never really notice the moon on most nights. Generally, it is either hiding behind the shadows or blocked by clouds. There are times, for just a few moments, when the silver orb would peek out from behind the cloud and shine in the luminary sky for as long as the clouds permit it. Yet, it is in the time of cloudless sky when the full bloom of its beauty would be seen, shining in a light ethereal.

She had only shone before him once. Almost three year to the day when she fought another who shared her eyes, but were filled with scorn and pain. Despite being outclassed, she didn't give up. She rose to her feet, uttering the same words he had as she stood defiant against her cousin, and in that moment, showed a strength hidden behind the clouds of shyness and self-doubt.

It was a moment he was proud of her, even when he didn't know her that well. Much more so the feelings she had for him. And when the clouds parted again, he saw her in full radiance. Once again defiant against a power greater than hers, yet determined to do all she could for him, for one reason alone.

"Because...I love you."

Now he saw her; really saw her. Hinata Hyuuga... The young woman with indigo hair and pearl eyes. A woman who, for reasons he doesn't understand, would give her heart to him. And in time, he found himself wanting nothing more than to return the favor.

She was his moon...

Just a short drabble that I wanted to write. Nothing epic; just short and sweet. At least, I think it is. You'll have to let me knew what you think, ergo, review please. ^_^
